This is what makes Konecranes a unique place to work.\nJob Description\nMachine Control Engineer - R&D\nLocation: Markaryd, Sweden\nBe part of developing the future generation of heavy industrial trucks and join the exciting industry of non-road mobile machinery.\nIndustrial trucks combine a wide range of technologies, including powertrains, electric drives, energy storage, hydraulics, HMI, machine control, electronics and digitalization. You will work in a multidisciplinary and international engineering environment, contributing to the development and integration of control systems for our machines.\nWe are currently seeking a Machine Control Engineer to join our R&D organization in Markaryd.\nIn this role, you will develop application software and control functions for mobile machinery, primarily using MATLAB/Simulink and Model-Based Design or “state of art” graphical development tools. You will work with embedded control systems, CAN communication and machine-level integration, taking functions from initial design and simulation through implementation, testing and validation on the machine.\nThe position is particularly suited to an early-career engineer with a background in Mechatronics, Electronics, Automation or Control Engineering, with a strong interest in embedded software and machine control.\nMain tasks and responsibilities:\nDevelop application software for machine control systems, primarily using MATLAB/Simulink and Model-Based Design methodologies or “state of art” graphical development tools;\nDesign, implement and maintain control algorithms and machine functions for mobile machinery;\nGenerate, integrate and test embedded application software for electronic control units;\nDevelop and maintain software using relevant programming languages;\nDevelop and maintain CAN-based communication between controllers, sensors, actuators and other electronic devices;\nPerform simulation, testing, debugging and validation of control functions, from model level to complete-machine testing;\nIntegrate application software with electrical/electronic, hydraulic and mechanical systems;\nAnalyze system behavior and troubleshoot software, communication and control-system issues;\nParticipate in software and system design reviews and contribute to technical documentation;\nCooperate closely with electrical, electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and software engineering teams throughout the product development process.\nAdditional tasks:\nSupport specification and selection of electronic components and control devices;\nPerform system and component testing and contribute to test documentation;\nSupport troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of electrical/electronic and control-system issues;\nContribute to technical documentation, design reviews and engineering change activities;\nSupport continuous improvement of machine control architectures, development methods and tools.\nQualifications\nWhat should you bring?\nWe are looking for a person with a genuine interest in machines, electronics and control systems, who enjoys understanding how different technologies interact at complete-machine level.\nYou should have:\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field;\nGood understanding of control systems and embedded systems;\nKnowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and Model-Based Design;\nBasic knowledge of C/C++ or similar programming languages;\nBasic knowledge of CAN communication and distributed control systems;\nUnderstanding of electronics, sensors, actuators and embedded controllers;\nInterest in developing software that directly interacts with real machines and physical systems;\nAnalytical and structured approach to troubleshooting and problem solving;\nGood communication and teamwork skills;\nGood command of written and spoken English.\nKnowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas is considered an advantage:\nExperience with automatic code generation from MATLAB/Simulink;\nExperience with embedded software development and debugging;\nKnowledge of CAN protocols such as J1939 or CANopen;\nFamiliarity with CAN analysis and diagnostic tools;\nKnowledge of electro-hydraulic control systems;\nExperience with mobile machinery, automotive or industrial automation;\nBasic understanding of software configuration management and version control;\n Knowledge of functional safety and safety-related control systems.\nPrevious professional experience is not mandatory. Relevant experience gained through university projects, internships, thesis work or personal technical projects will also be considered.\nAdditional Information\nWho are you?\nAs a person, you are curious, analytical and hands-on.
