With us, you will be at the forefront of developing and validating software solutions used to control and monitor advanced subsea sonar systems.\nPOSITION SUMMARY\nReporting to the Software Manager, the Software Test Co-op Student will support the verification and validation of software applications used to configure, control, monitor, and test underwater sonar systems. This position provides hands-on experience working with real-world hardware and software systems in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.\nThe successful candidate will assist with manual and automated testing activities, test development, defect reporting, and software quality improvement initiatives while working closely with software, hardware, and systems engineers.\nROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nDevelop and execute manual test procedures for desktop, embedded, and system-level software applications.\nAssist in the creation and maintenance of automated test scripts and test frameworks.\nPerform functional, regression, integration, and acceptance testing of sonar control and monitoring software.\nRecord, track, and verify software defects using issue tracking tools.\nAnalyze test results and work with engineers to identify and troubleshoot software issues.\nAssist with validation of software releases prior to deployment.\nSupport software-hardware integration testing using laboratory sonar and electronics equipment.\nCreate and maintain test documentation, test reports, and validation records.\nParticipate in software design reviews, sprint activities, and technical discussions as appropriate.\nContribute to continuous improvement of software test processes, tools, and practices.\nQUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS\nCurrently enrolled in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related degree program.\nCompleted third or fourth year of study and eligible for a co-op work term.\nKnowledge of software development and testing principles.\nExperience programming in one or more languages such as Python, C++, C#, or Java.\nFamiliarity with version control systems such as Git.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.\nHigh level of energy, enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to learn.\nPREFERRED SKILLS\nExperience developing automated tests or test scripts.\nFamiliarity with software quality assurance, verification, and validation practices.\nExposure to hardware-software integration or embedded systems.\nExperience with issue tracking and test management tools.\nKnowledge of networking, serial communications, or instrumentation interfaces.\nFamiliarity with Agile development methodologies.\nInterest in robotics, marine technology, sensors, sonar systems, or related technologies.\nFamiliarity with LLM based coding analysis and test tools.\nWHAT YOU WILL LEARN\nSoftware verification and validation methodologies used in commercial marine products.\nAutomated test
