Our goal is to remove complexity so platforms spend less time wrestling with legacy systems and more time delivering benefits people love.\nThe role\nAs a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) at Kota, you’ll sit at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer success. You’ll partner directly with our customers to design and deploy solutions that unlock the full value of Kota’s developer products. Unlike traditional software engineering roles, this position is highly customer-facing and hands-on. You’ll write production-quality code, advise partners on best practices, and influence our product roadmap based on real-world integrations. This role is perfect if you want to apply your technical skills in high-impact, customer-facing environments while shaping how benefits are delivered globally.\nWhat you’ll do\nPartner with our customers’ engineering teams to integrate Kota’s SDKs and APIs into their platforms.\n\nTranslate customer needs into scalable, production-ready solutions.\n\nContribute to Kota’s product by building internal tools, writing reusable code, and identifying opportunities to improve APIs and SDKs.\n\nWork closely with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success teams to ensure successful deployments.\n\nAct as the technical voice of the customer - shaping features and roadmap decisions.\n\nDebug complex issues across multiple systems, APIs, and data flows.\n\nAbout you\n5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or similar engineering or technical role that includes customer-facing work.\n\nYou can write and review production code in TypeScript, Python, or C# (experience with multiple languages is a plus).\n\nComfortable working across APIs, SDKs, and data integrations.\n\nHave successfully scoped and shipped complex systems in fast-moving environments.\n\nExcellent communication skills; you can explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.\n\nSpot risks early and adjust without slowing down.\n\nYou have a bias for action - you thrive in ambiguity and can move quickly while maintaining high-quality standards.\n\nNice to Have\nExperience in fintech, insurtech, or HR tech.\n\nFamiliarity with global payroll, benefits, or insurance systems.\n\nPrior experience in a forward deployed, solutions, or professional services engineering role.\n\nPrior startup or solo-founder experience.\n\nFamiliarity with developer experience tooling or internal enablement work.\n\nAnd of course....
