In this role you will be responsible for supporting\nan original equipment manufacturing company by conducting bench top tests and pilot plant studies as well as field\ntests mainly focusing on ion exchange, but with potential work with membranes, and other chemical processes.\nWhat You Will Do\nAssist with lab and pilot plant process development work, including project planning input, setup, sampling,\nanalyses and programming pilot unit controllers.\nTest, analyze, and document test results and findings in a clear and detailed manner, including completion of\nelectronic experimental logs.\nPerform routine and in-depth analytical, lab and pilot equipment maintenance, including calibrations, to ensure\nequipment reliability.\nUse prescribed analytical techniques and optimize as required to quantify required components, and develop\nnew analytical techniques as required by the business.\nComplete mass balances on test work as required.\nAssess problem situations and productively evaluate techniques and methods and offer solutions.\nPrepare written reports suitable for internal and external distribution.\nPerform quality control analyses on new stock items.\nMaintain a safe and clean work environment.\nPerform other related duties as required by manager.\nAdhere to all plant health, safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures.\nOther Considerations:\nPhysical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing, stooping, reaching,\npulling, pushing, twisting, bending, kneeling, crawling and grasping. Standing for extended periods of time,\nwalking up to two kilometers per day, and data entry while seated for greater than one hour.\nAbility to wear personal protective equipment in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled\nboots and hearing protection).\nAble to visually observe lab tests and discriminate subtle colour differences to include detecting colour changes\nin red/green hues.\nAbility to lift up to 23 kg (50 lb) and be able to stand for extended periods as required.\nTravel up to 30%, mainly international.\nWho You Are\nChemical technician/technologist college diploma, or the equivalent coursework in a related specialized field.\nEffectively communicate verbally and in writing in English.\nWillingness to work in an industrial plant setting.\nWillingness and ability to travel internationally on short notice.\nValid passport that allows you to travel to the US without a visa, OR a US visa that is valid for the next 12\nmonths.\nLegally eligible to enter the US.\nValid driver’s license.\nEligible to work in Canada.\nWhat Will Put You Ahead\nPost graduate experience assembling, operating and troubleshooting pilot equipment for chemical\nprocessing.\nPost graduate experience operating and troubleshooting analytical lab instruments like an ICP-OES, AAS, IC,\nPSA.\nPost graduate experience operating and troubleshooting ion exchange for chemical/water\nrecovery/purification.\nWhat We Offer\nHealth and Dental Benefits\nEmployee and Family Assistance Program\nOn the job training\nGreat opportunity for growth\nValue driven culture\nAt Kovalus companies, we are entrepreneurs.
