We also design critical public and private infrastructure systems that support the built and natural environments, including district energy, regional storm drainage facilities, utility grids, and trails. We support projects ranging from feasibility evaluations and master planning to design, permitting, and construction. Our group works in close collaboration with owners, architects, landscape architects, and other engineering disciplines to build a more sustainable, resilient, and thriving community.\nLocated in downtown Seattle, our Civil Engineering team is seeking aCivil Engineering Designer. This position will provide the opportunity for you to dive headfirst into real-world projects from day one. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the design and development of civil infrastructure across the Pacific Northwest and beyond; as well as:\nContribute to the planning, design, permitting, and refinement of land development and infrastructure projects from concept to completion.\nGain hands-on experience while learning directly from licensed professional engineers.\nApply core engineering principles and advanced mathematical techniques to tackle real-world challenges.\nCollaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams.\nBuild expertise in navigating federal, state, and local regulations, while aligning with KPFF’s and our clients’ standards and practices.\nJoin client meetings and site visits to gain exposure to project development and stakeholder engagement.\nParticipate in KPFF’s Forefront program, our commitment to mentorship, lifelong learning, and career development.\nThrive in a vibrant, inclusive, and collaborative team environment that values creativity, curiosity, and excellence.\n Minimum Qualifications:\nAn ABET accredited bachelor's degree in civil (preferred) or environmental engineering\n0-4 years’ experience working under a licensed professional engineer\nEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or scheduled date for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.\nExcellent written and verbal communication\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment\nPassionate about providing exceptional client service\nDesired Qualification:\nCoursework and/or familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D.\nCoursework and/or familiarity with stormwater hydrology modeling.\n Physical Demands:\nDuties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.\nOccasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.\nOccasionally visiting project and construction sites may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.\nTraveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying.\nCompensation:\nThe base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate is $80,500 - $95,000 annually.\nAdditionally, we offer performance-based bonuses to recognize and reward outstanding contributions in each Reporting Center.
