The 2027 Civil Engineering Summer Internship being offered is approximately 40 hours a week (or less) for 2.5 to 4 months depending on candidate’s availability. Job responsibilities will vary by project and individual intern, but generally include the following:\nAssist with Civil site development and transportation projects, including quantity take-off calculations, design layout, AutoCAD drafting and assistance on survey crews.\nAssist in office duties such as making copies, assisting with reports, and permit applications.\nThe applicant may be required to navigate through a job site and must comply with all Company and Site safety requirements in the office and on the job site. \nThe specifics of your responsibilities will vary based on the project needs and the team you work with, providing a well-rounded internship experience that connects your academic learning to practical application.\n Qualifications\nWorking towards Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) program.\nCompletion of junior year prior to the internship start date.\nBasic knowledge of civil engineering principles and a desire for continued learning.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work collaboratively with team members.\nGeneral understanding of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail.\nRequirements\nWorking towards a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering\nSkills\nComputer proficiency is required, including Microsoft Office Programs\nComputer Aided Drafting experience is desired (AutoCAD and Civil 3D)\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nFunctions effectively as part of a team\nDependable\nAbility to understand and follow directions\nGood time management and organizational skills \n Physical Demands and Work Environment\nAbility to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer, reviewing plans, or conducting site visits.\nOccasionally, it may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.\nField visits may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.\nMust comply with all safety requirements in the office and on job sites.\nCompensation\nKPFF values the contributions of our administrative staff and strives to provide fair and competitive compensation based on location and market standards. This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA) and is eligible to receive overtime compensation at 1.5 times the regular rate of pay for all hours worked beyond 40 hours in a standard work week. For this position, compensation includes:\nHourly Pay: $25.00- $29.00 per hour, depending on experience and local office standards.\nAdditionally, we offer performance-based bonuses to recognize and reward outstanding contributions in each Reporting Center.
