About the role

Commercial Management operates within the Finance & Commercial Domain and supports the firm by negotiating, structuring and managing robust commercial agreements. The function helps protect the firm's interests, maintain contractual compliance and support sustainable growth through effective governance, contract management and operational excellence.

In this role, you will oversee the commercial and contractual management of assigned engagements. Working with the Senior Contract Manager, Senior Commercial Managers, business stakeholders and leadership teams, you will help engagement teams understand their obligations, address emerging issues and make well-informed commercial decisions.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial and contractual management of a portfolio of complex, high-value and strategically important client engagements.
  • Provide commercial leadership from contract mobilisation through delivery, change and closure, protecting value and supporting improved performance.
  • Implement and improve proportionate commercial governance, controls and reporting across assigned engagements.
  • Manage commercial management plans, keeping them aligned with contracts, delivery models, client expectations and changing business priorities.
  • Identify emerging commercial and contractual issues, assess their impact and lead corrective action or escalation where performance, margin or risk tolerance is threatened.
  • Lead the preparation, negotiation and implementation of change controls, contract amendments, claims, risk positions and service-level remedies.
  • Complete monthly key performance indicator reporting and provide clear insights and recommendations on risk reduction, value protection and value creation.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to engagement teams and contribute to the development of Commercial Management tools, standards, processes and capability.

Experience and skills needed

  • Commercial and contractual expertise gained in complex contracting environments, such as technology, engineering, construction, energy or natural resources.
  • Experience working in or with professional services organisations, preferably within advisory consulting.
  • Ability to analyse detailed commercial and contractual information, identify issues and apply sound judgement.
  • Commercial awareness and strong negotiation skills, with the ability to protect value and support practical outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, enabling constructive relationships while holding stakeholders to account for agreed obligations.
  • An entrepreneurial approach and confidence in bringing independent challenge and pragmatic solutions.
