The role supports the Financial Controller and wider Finance team in maintaining the integrity of financial information, meeting statutory and regulatory requirements, and improving finance processes. The role typically operates with a high degree of autonomy and is expected to identify issues, resolve accounting matters, and provide reliable financial insight to stakeholders.\nROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES\nFinancial Accounting\nPerform month-end and year-end close activities. \nPrepare journals, invoices, accruals, prepayments, provisions, and balance-sheet reconciliations. \nEnsure accuracy of cashbook & reconciliations. \nMaintain Accounts Receivable and debt collections. \nMaintain accurate general ledger records. \nInvestigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.\nEnsure transactions are recorded in accordance with IFRS, and company accounting policies, as applicable.\nFinancial Control\nMaintain effective balance-sheet controls and reconciliation processes. \nReview financial postings and supporting documentation. \nIdentify control weaknesses and recommend corrective actions. \nSupport internal and external audit activities. \nEnsure appropriate documentation and audit trails are maintained.\nStatutory & Regulatory Accounting\nSupport preparation of statutory accounts and year-end reporting. \nAssist with corporation tax, VAT, and other statutory requirements. \nEnsure compliance with relevant UK accounting and financial reporting requirements.\nReporting & Analysis\nIdentify variances against budget, forecast, and prior periods. \nInvestigate material movements and provide explanations to management. \nSupport budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.\nProcess Improvement\nIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting. \nSupport automation and standardization initiatives. \nDevelop and maintain accounting procedures and documentation. \nContribute to finance transformation and system implementation projects.\nStakeholder Management\nWork closely with Finance, FP&A, Procurement, Payroll, Tax, Operations, and other business functions. \nProvide accounting guidance to colleagues and non-finance stakeholders. \nCommunicate financial issues clearly and escalate significant risks appropriately.\nQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE\nQualified accountant or actively studying towards a professional qualification. \nRequires 5-7 years' relevant accounting experience due to complexity of the role. \nStrong experience in month-end and financial close processes. \nExperience preparing and reviewing balance-sheet reconciliations. \nGood understanding of UK accounting principles and financial controls. \nExperience with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite preferred) and advanced Excel skills. \nExperience working with auditors and supporting statutory reporting. \nStrong analytical and problem-solving
