Working alongside the existing Controller and finance team, this individual will provide additional bandwidth and expertise to support key accounting initiatives, assist with special projects, and help strengthen accounting processes and reporting.\nThis is a hands-on, project-focused opportunity for an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in manufacturing who can quickly assess priorities, work independently, and provide immediate support to the accounting function.\nKey Responsibilities\nPartner with the existing Controller and accounting team to support day-to-day accounting operations and special projects.\n\nAssist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.\n\nReview general ledger activity and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.\n\nSupport inventory accounting, including inventory reconciliations, costing, valuation, and variance analysis.\n\nAssist with cost accounting activities, including standard costing, product costing, labor and overhead analysis, and manufacturing variances.\n\nReview and analyze financial statements, identifying discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement.\n\nEvaluate existing accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls and recommend improvements as needed.\n\nAssist with audit preparation, documentation, and coordination with external auditors.\n\nSupport the development and implementation of process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function.\n\nProvide additional accounting and financial analysis support based on business needs and project priorities.\n\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\n\n7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.\n\nPrior experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar role.\n\nStrong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.\n\nExperience with manufacturing accounting, inventory, and cost accounting principles.\n\nProven experience managing or supporting month-end and year-end close processes.\n\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\n\nAbility to quickly assess priorities, work independently, and adapt to changing business needs.\n\nExperience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.\n\nStrong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with existing finance and operational teams.\n\nEngagement Details\nInterim, part-time engagement (approximately 20 hours per week).\n\nLocated in Louisville, KY.\n\nExpected to work collaboratively with the existing Controller and accounting team.\n\nPrimary focus will be providing additional accounting support and assisting with prioritized projects.\n\nSchedule and duration to be determined based on business needs.\n\nIdeal Candidate\nThe ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader with a strong manufacturing background who enjoys stepping into an organization, identifying areas where support is needed, and making an immediate impact.
