The Product Development Engineer Intern role will be a member of a collaborative team that defines and develops products from concept through production while working with the Product Management, Project Management, Supply Chain, and internal/external manufacturers.\nEssential Job Functions\nParticipate in ideation and concepting of products aimed at solving our customer’s needs\nAssist with the development and design of components and assemblies of consumer hand tools, including 3D solid modeling, prototyping, and testing of new ideas and products\nGenerate product specifications and conduct or coordinate performance testing during development and production to verify function, quality, and safety of a product\nEnsure design documentation is accurate, and kept up to date, while driving design standardization across all product lines. \nParticipate in teams whose mission is to reduce cost of existing products or increasing production throughput through via design improvements and simplification\nWorks with Product Managers to develop technical design requirements\nSupports internal and external manufacturing during initial trials and production\nParticipates in continuous improvement teams and/or problem-solving teams\nInterface with internal and external customers regarding technical performance issues\nReview and control vendor-supplied engineering documents\n Education and/or Experience\nJunior or Senior enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree program (finished sophomore year)\nExperience or training on 3D modeling CAD software - SolidWorks preferred\nPrevious internship experience desirable \nPassionate about being hands on\nWoodworking experience a plus \nBonus Skills and Abilities\nStrong problem-solving skills. Ability to apply existing technologies to new problems. \nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.\nAttention to detail and strong organizational skills.\nPassionate about being hands on \nWoodworking experience a plus \nYour Work Environment\nWork is performed in an office environment and will include long periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
