Key Responsibilities Procedure Development & Qualification: Develop, write, and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) in compliance with ASME, API, or AWS codes. Production & Shop Support: Supervise on-floor welding activities, troubleshoot daily issues, and ensure compliance with approved procedures to maintain production schedules. Welder Training & Qualification: Qualify welders (WPQR) and maintain certification records; provide training to improve technique, safety, and efficiency. Failure Analysis & Corrective Actions: Conduct root cause analysis on weld failures (e.g., cracking, distortion) and implement corrective and preventive measures. Quality Control (QC) & Inspection: Knowledge of NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) methods (RT, UT, PT, MT) and PWHT (Post-Weld Heat Treatment). ASNT level -II NDT qualified highly preferred. Material Selection & Consumables: Determine appropriate welding methods and filler metals for various alloys, including low-alloy steels and stainless steels.
