Responsible for overseeing the design, construction, and commissioning of KTDA Power Company projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget and to required standards, reviewing feasibility studies and designs, preparing tender documents, supervising contractors, monitoring project costs, ensuring regulatory and environmental compliance, and managing project teams. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, a postgraduate diploma in Project Management, at least eight years’ relevant experience. The position is based in Nairobi and requires on-site work.\n\nPosition Scope\n\nReporting to the General Manager-KTDA Power Company (KTPC), the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing design, construction supervision and commissioning of KTPC projects.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nEnsuring KTPC projects are completed on time, within budget and to the required standard;\n\nProviding project management services for the company;\n\nEnsuring compliance to environmental and regulatory requirements during project development;\n\nSupervising, appraising staff and identifying their development and training needs;\n\nParticipating in the recruitment of staff within the department;\n\nMentoring and coaching staff;\n\nPreparing of projects status reports;\n\nReviewing and approving feasibility study reports;\n\nReviewing and approving designs;\n\nPreparing tender documents;\n\nParticipating in the tender process and award;\n\nManaging the construction and commissioning process;\n\nManaging the department staff to ensure effective delivery of services;\n\nLiaising with the Operations manager to ensure the projects meet all the statutory requirements;\n\nEnsuring that the projects meets the required environmental, health and safety, requirements;\n\nParticipating in the formulation and review of the company’s strategic plan;\n\nParticipating in the review of performance and improvement of the existing plants;\n\nEnsuring projects are completed to high standards and within time and budget;\n\nEnsuring hydro Projects are well planned, designed and constructed;\n\nEnsuring timely payments to contractors and consultants;\n\nEnsuring high quality of feasibility studies;\n\nEnsuring effective operational cost control of the department’s financial resources;\n\nQualifications \n\nBachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related;\n\nA post graduate diploma in project management;\n\nA minimum of Eight (8) years of relevant experience, 3 of which should be at a senior level in Project Management/ Maintenance;\n\nBe registered by the Engineering Board;\n\nMust have demonstrated ability to handle departmental budgets, resources, processes, projects and relationships\n\nShould have thorough knowledge of the relevant industry/sector as well as knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting the relevant sector\n\nMust have ability to plan, organize, implement and evaluate departmental goals\n\nMust demonstrate ability to handle multiple and conflicting priorities, and work under strict deadlines.\n\nShould have strong analytical skills and be result oriented \n\nMust have high standards of integrity and ethical practice\n\nMust be capable of functioning effectively both as a team player and a team leader\n\nMust have management and Leadership skills\n\nMust have ability to accurately plan work assignments, prioritize tasks and deliver deadlines\n\nShould have problem solving and decision making abilities\n\nShould be an effective communicator with the ability to handle both internal and external communication\n\nShould demonstrate ability to identify and respond to risk areas within the department\n\nShould have
