If it goes down, our clients can't take money, so reliability is part of the product.\nYour main job is the iOS app. Most POS features also touch the web services behind it, written in Java or Go, so you will have the opportunity to develop down the stack and ship the service changes your screens depend on. You will also help modernize a mature codebase: retire legacy Objective-C, harden offline mode, and make releases more predictable. Curiosity and a willingness to experiment are non-negotiable.\nThe impact you'll make\nDesign, build and ship features in the KWI POS app for iPhone and iPad, mostly in Swift, using Xcode \nWork with the lead developer on app architecture, and own the iOS side of each feature: state management, error handling and test coverage \nBuild intelligence into the POS: AI-driven features that help associates sell \nWork from specs written with Product, Design and QA, and help sharpen those specs before code starts \nUse AI coding tools every day to write, test and refactor code, and help the team improve how we use them \nMake offline mode more reliable: keep stores selling without a network, then reconcile cleanly when it returns \nBuild and support integrations with payment devices and store hardware, including card readers, receipt printers and scanners \nRetire legacy Objective-C and move the app toward modern Swift patterns, including SwiftUI and Swift concurrency where they fit \nImprove performance, stability and crash rates, using the telemetry we already collect \nTroubleshoot production issues in client stores, including problems that only show up with a specific client's configuration \nReview code, mentor other engineers, and work as a technical partner to our offshore development team \nDevelop down the stack: take on changes to the Java or Go web services your screens call as you grow in the role \nWhat you will bring\nBS in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience \n6+ years of professional software development, including 5+ years building native iOS apps in Swift that shipped to production \nEnough Objective-C to read, debug and safely migrate legacy code \nDeep knowledge of UIKit and the iOS app lifecycle, plus working experience with SwiftUI and Swift concurrency (async/await) \nExperience integrating iOS apps with RESTful APIs, and a clear understanding of how the app and its services work together \nExperience building offline-first apps: local persistence (SQLite or Core Data), sync and conflict handling \nDaily, hands-on use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or GitHub Copilot \nStrong testing habits: unit and UI tests with XCTest, and a commitment to automated testing \nExperience with Git, CI/CD for iOS (Jenkins, Fastlane or similar), code signing and App Store or enterprise distribution \nExperience with Agile delivery (Kanban or Scrum) and tracking work in Jira \nThe discipline to work in a codebase where a mistake can stop a store from selling, and clear communication when something goes wrong \n\nNice to have\nBackend development in Java or Go \nCard-present payments: payment gateways, EMV devices, tender types, gift cards, certification cycles \nRetail or point-of-sale domain experience \nReact Native experience (we also maintain a React Native app) \nExperience with Bluetooth or external accessory integrations on iOS \nObservability tooling such as OpenTelemetry or crash reporting \nExperience working with offshore or distributed teams \nShipping AI features in a mobile app: Core ML, Apple's Foundation Models framework, or integrating LLM APIs \nAs a member of the KWI team you will receive\nFull Medical, Dental and Vision\nAnnual bonus eligible\nFree gym in the building \nGenerous PTO policy\nSummer Fridays....all year round\nTuition Reimbursement\nDiscount from building café\n401(K) with a 50% company match (up to 6% of employee contribution)\nEmployee Referral Program\n(1) Volunteer day each year\n\nOur work space\n\nWe understand that our teams need flexibility, which is why we follow a hybrid schedule.
