We are advancing the future of mobile connectivity through innovative technology, Learn more at Kymeta.\nWhat We Need\nThePrincipal Systems Engineer will collaborate with exceptionally skilled teams of multi-disciplined engineers to develop the next generation of satellite-based mobile communications. This role will engage with RF Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical & Firmware Engineering, Materials & Reliability Engineering, Program Management, Product Management, and executive leadership to define, develop, test, and align Systems Engineering with product family objectives. There will be primary interaction with Military Prime contractors for technology innovation and integration. As a technology leader, you will serve as Head Engineer onassigned programs, directing theirtechnical aspects,and join executive strategy sessions.\nKEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES \nAbility to set direction for team solving complex issues on critical systems-related approaches, requirements, specifications, and design.\n\nCoordinates engineering support throughout the lifecycle of the platform.\n\nDevelop new concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.\n\nAlign cross-functional teams on Systems Engineering Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Cost & Supply Chain.\n\nGuide engineering teams on system-level design specifications, analysis, and trade-offs, including defining hardware and software requirements, features, and integration tests.\n\nEstablish, foster, and mature Research and Development (R&D) partnerships with academia, commercial industry, and government agencies in respective areas of expertise and support cross-collaboration with the other areas.\n\nSupport engineering team readiness and execution during test phases and lead anomaly resolution teams.\n\nResponsible for the framework to support technical root cause investigations and corrective action plans.\n\nAccelerate design, development, and deployment speed through engineering development process improvements.\n\nOwn RF system requirements and performance budgets (gain, noise figure, linearity, EIRP, G/T, spurious emissions) across the full RF chain from antenna to modem.\n\nDevelop link budgets and frequency plans, and drive RF componentand supplier selection(BUCs, LNBs, LNAs, filters, frequency converters).\n\nDefine and lead RF verification and EMI/EMC testing, and support regulatory and network operator type approval.\n\nServe as Head Engineer on assigned programs, acting as the technical authority accountable for end-to-end system design, technical risk, design reviews, and delivery of program technical objectives.\n\nSKILLS AND EXPERIENCE\n10+ years in RF or SATCOM system design, integration, and test, preferably in the defenseor aerospace sector.\n\nExpertisein RF measurement and analysis, antenna systems, waveform optimization, and RF test equipment (spectrum analyzer, VNA, signal generator).\n\nProficiencywith modelling and simulation and programming tools (Python, MATLAB, STK, SystemVue).\n\nStrong communicator and systems thinker capable of leading technical direction and engaging senior stakeholders.\n\nDemonstrated experience with link budget development to meet network operator performance requirements and drive componentselectionand design.Strong RF chain design and cascade analysis skills: noise figure, P1dB/IP3, phase noise, spurious emissions, and interference mitigation.\n\nHands-on experience measuring G/T, EIRP, and EMI/EMC performance, and working knowledge of Ku/Ka-band SATCOM regulations (FCC Part 25, ITU-R, ETSI, MIL-STD-461).\n\nEligibility for Top Secret clearance required.\n\nPREFERRED BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE\n10 + years of technical experience\n\nPreviousclearance of secret or higher\n\nUnderstanding digital or analogbeamforming and communications systems.\n\nPreviousexperience in highly complexsystem integration and test activities.\n\nPreviousexperience with one of the following wireless standards and networks: LTE, 5G, or satellite communications systems.\n\nExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated toolkit of creative and logical approaches grounded in advanced data analysis and interpretation skills. Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize data from many different sourcessuch as experimental measurements, computational modelsand field data.\n\nEDUCATION\nBSEE or equivalent experience in a related field, M.E. Systems Engineering preferred.\n\nCOMPENSATION\nKymeta is committed to fair and equitablecompensation practices. In the spirit of pay transparency, we have determined the salary range for this position to be $150,000 - $230,000. This is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would be atypical, in order toallow for future and continued salary growth. Compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to:skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and geography. The total compensation package for this position includes an annual target bonus of 10%, stock options, and benefits listed below.
