You’ll be in good company among our global community of experts leading the future of mainframe modernization. Experts who share knowledge openly and collaborate freely.\nIn this role, you’ll design, build and maintain the high-volume business logic that runs on the mainframe. At the same time you’ll play a key role in refactoring legacy code to enable modern cloud and mobile applications to seamlessly interact with the mainframe’s core data.\nKey Responsibilities\nAutomation & Configuration Management \nDesign, develop, and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and automation workflows for large-scale, multi-environment deployments. \nBuild reusable automation frameworks to standardize provisioning, configuration, and patching processes. \nOptimize existing Ansible scripts and convert manual processes into automated pipelines. \nImplement automated compliance, drift detection, and self-healing mechanisms where feasible. DevOps Engineering \nDevelop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as VS Code, Azure DevOps or GitHub. \nManage end-to-end release automation, branch strategies, artifact management, and deployment orchestration. \nWork closely with Development, QA, and Cloud teams to ensure reliable, fast, and secure software delivery. \nIntegrate security controls into DevOps workflows. Cloud & Infrastructure Operations \nSupport infrastructure provisioning using IaC tools such as Ansible Automation Platform (AAP). \nManage deployments across hybrid cloud/on-prem environments (Azure, Windows, Linux-based systems). \nImplement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions for automated environments. SQL Engineering & SME-Level Expertise \nServe as the subject matter expert for SQL performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, partitioning, and data modelling. \nAutomate database deployment and maintenance tasks, including schema updates, replication setup, and backup routines. Troubleshoot complex SQL-related issues and support application teams with optimized data access patterns. \nDevelop automation to support DB upgrades, migrations, and baseline enforcement. Collaboration, Governance & Best Practices \nPartner with architecture, security, and delivery teams to define automation standards and reusable templates. \nPromote and enforce best practices in DevOps, SQL engineering, and infrastructure automation. \nMaintain detailed technical documentation, SOPs, and runbooks. \nProvide mentorship to junior engineers and support cross-team technical enablement. \nWhat you will do\nMaintain Performance\nPrevent decay and find efficiencies: Monitor the architecture and identify opportunities to optimize code to maintain and enhance mainframe performance. Debug and Test\nFind and fix: Debug, troubleshoot, and analyze complex system interactions to keep mission-critical applications running. And finally, you’re open and borderless - naturally inclusive in how you work with others.\nRequired Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills\nStrong hands-on expertise in Ansible (playbooks, roles, inventories, AAP/Tower, Ansible Galaxy).\n\nSolid experience with CI/CD tools (VS Code, Ansible, Azure DevOps).\n\nProficiency in scripting languages: Python, Powershell, Bash, YAML.\n\nStrong knowledge of Linux and Windows administration and server hardening.\n\nExpert-level SQL skills: Query tuning , Index optimization, Stored procedures & triggers, Data architecture fundamentals, Cross-platform (PostgreSQL, SQL Server preferred).\n\nExperience with IaC tools (Ansible, VS Code) is a plus.\n\nFamiliarity with cloud environments (Azure preferred). Understanding of networking fundamentals, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs. Soft Skills\n\nStrong analytical mindset for troubleshooting complex automation & SQL issues.\n\nExcellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.\n\nAbility to work independently and deliver with minimal supervision.\n\nHigh ownership, accountability, and structured problem-solving ability.\n\nExperience Requirements\n\n5-9 years of total experience for L3/L4 levels.\n\nProven experience in automation engineering, DevOps practices, and SQL tuning.\n\nExposure to enterprise-scale environments, multi-team collaboration, and production-grade automation.\n\nPreferred Skills:\nRed Hat Ansible Automation Certification\n\nAzure DevOps Certifications\n\nKubernetes (CKA/CKAD) certification\n\nSQL database certifications (Microsoft, PostgreSQL)\n\nBeing You\nThe “Kyn” in Kyndryl means kinship, which represents the strong bonds we have with each other, our customers and our communities.
