Join us and experience a flexible, supportive environment where your well-being is prioritized and your potential can thrive.\nThe Role\nThe Role\nYour Role\nAs a GPFS Storage Engineer, you will provide hands-on administration and incident resolution for IBM Spectrum Scale / General Parallel File System (GPFS) and associated storage infrastructure. You will own service restoration for common cluster, Network Shared Disk (NSD), path, node and performance issues, while escalating complex architectural or code-level conditions to the appropriate Subject Matter Expert (SME) or vendor. This is a hands-on operations role for someone who enjoys diagnosing storage issues, restoring critical services and improving operational resilience.\nWhat You Will Do\nAdminister Spectrum Scale clusters, filesystems, NSDs, filesets, storage pools and policies within approved change controls. \nTroubleshoot node, disk, NSD, path, mount, quorum and connectivity conditions and restore service using documented recovery procedures. \nAnalyze capacity, Input/Output Operations Per Second (IOPS), latency and throughput to identify basic storage, network or client-side bottlenecks. \nUse Spectrum Scale mm* commands and vendor/storage tools to collect detailed health and diagnostic data. \nParticipate in drive and node replacement, storage hardware recovery, firmware changes and post-change validation. \nSupport Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA)/InfiniBand storage paths and collaborate with network teams when transport conditions affect storage performance. \nExecute backup and configuration validation and agreed disaster recovery/recovery procedures. \nOwn ticket and Service-Level Agreement (SLA) progression, maintain technical documentation, contribute to root cause analysis, mentor L1 engineers and improve runbooks. \nYour Future at Kyndryl\nThis role gives you the opportunity to deepen your expertise in enterprise and high-performance storage while building broader skills across Linux, storage networking, performance engineering and service reliability. And finally, you’re open and borderless, naturally inclusive in how you work with others.\nRequired Skills and Experience\n3-5+ years of enterprise or High-Performance Computing (HPC) storage engineering experience, including hands-on Spectrum Scale/GPFS administration.\nWorking knowledge of NSDs, quorum, filesets, storage pools, policies, disk/node recovery and Spectrum Scale administration commands.\nStrong Linux troubleshooting and performance-analysis skills.\nExperience with Storage Area Network (SAN) / Network-Attached Storage (NAS), Fibre Channel and/or Ethernet/RDMA storage connectivity.\nAbility to analyze IOPS, latency, throughput and capacity trends and distinguish storage symptoms from network or client-side conditions.\nExperience with enterprise storage Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) tooling.\nFormal incident management, change management and root cause analysis experience.\nPreferred Skills and Experience\nHands-on experience with DataDirect Networks (DDN) storage platforms and tooling.\nExperience supporting RDMA and/or InfiniBand storage environments.\nExperience operating storage services in enterprise or HPC environments with defined SLA and recovery procedures.\nBeing You\nThe “Kyn” in Kyndryl means kinship, which represents the strong bonds we have with each other, our customers and our communities.
