You’ll combine hands-on database administration with problem-solving and continuous improvement, supporting the systems that customers rely on while helping them evolve within increasingly integrated, hybrid IT environments.\nYou’ll be working across the DB2 lifecycle, from installation, configuration and upgrades to performance optimisation, recovery and ongoing operational health. When complex issues arise, you’ll investigate what is happening, identify the underlying cause and work with application and infrastructure teams to restore service and prevent repeat incidents.\nThis is also an opportunity to look beyond day-to-day support. You’ll use your knowledge of DB2 and the wider z/OS environment to identify opportunities to improve reliability, capacity and operational efficiency. You’ll work with application teams on database design and SQL performance, automate repeatable administration activities and help ensure database environments are ready for both current workloads and future change.\nWhat Yo will Do\nAdminister and maintain DB2 for z/OS environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and capacity management.\nPerform installation, configuration, upgrades, migrations, and maintenance of DB2 subsystems and database objects.\nExecute and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to safeguard critical business data.\nTroubleshoot database incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.\nMonitor and optimize database performance, including SQL tuning, access path analysis, and buffer pool management.\nCollaborate with application teams on database design reviews, performance tuning, and issue resolution.\nDrive continuous improvements in database reliability, automation, and operational excellence to support mission-critical workloads.\nYour future at Kyndryl\nThis role opens the door to many career paths, both vertical and horizontal, and there may be opportunity to travel. And finally, you’re open and borderless - naturally inclusive in how you work with others.\nRequired Technical and Professional Expertise\n9+ years of experience managing IBM DB2 for z/OS in enterprise production environments, with expertise in database maintenance, monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.\nHands-on expertise with DB2 utilities including REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, RECOVER, LOAD, UNLOAD, REBUILD INDEX, and CHECK DATA.\nExperience supporting DB2 subsystem installation, upgrades, migrations, maintenance, and version upgrades (DB2 v11/v12/v13).\nStrong knowledge of z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, REXX, SMP/E, RACF, and Mainframe infrastructure. \nExperience with database performance tuning, SQL optimization, access path analysis, buffer pool tuning, and capacity planning.\nExpertise in backup, recovery, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity support for DB2 environments. \nProficiency in monitoring and troubleshooting DB2 issues using tools such as OMEGAMON, SPUFI, QMF, BMC MainView, and DB2 Admin Tool. \nExperience supporting 24x7 production environments, incident resolution, problem management, and root cause analysis.\nPreferred Technical and Professional Experience\nExperience supporting complex enterprise mainframe environments and 24x7 production services\nUnderstanding of ITIL-aligned change, release and service management practices.\nExperience working across system programming, application, storage and infrastructure teams to resolve technical issues\nExperience supporting disaster recovery exercises, audits, compliance reviews or operational governance.\nIBM DB2 for z/OS certification or comparable demonstrated DB2 expertise.\nBeing You\nThe “Kyn” in Kyndryl means kinship, which represents the strong bonds we have with each other, our customers and our communities.
