Join us and experience a flexible, supportive environment where your well-being is prioritized and your potential can thrive.\nThe Role\nYour Role\nAs a Mainframe DB2 System Programmer SME at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services.\nWhat you will do\nInstallation/maintenance of IBM DB2 z/OS software and related 3rd-party products utilizing SMP/E. This includes working with IBM and other vendors to address product defects, issues, and usage questions.\nConfiguration of DB2 groups and subsystems in SYSPLEX data-sharing environment, supporting mainframe DB2 applications.\nPerform problem analysis and resolution for mainframe DB2 system related issues.\nPerformance and capacity tuning of system parameters and resources, utilizing various monitoring and reporting tools. Currently a separate team (PCM) handles this at Kyndryl.\nResponsible for the DB2 subsystem availability, backup and recovery strategies and procedures. DR tests.\nMaintain the DB2 Catalog, Directory and other DB2 system objects.\nDocumentation of policies and procedures.\nProvide secondary support for the DBA staff on DB2 subsystem issues.\nSecurity services in regards to systems support role for DB2.\nYour future at Kyndryl\nEvery position at Kyndryl offers a way forward to grow your career, from Junior System Administrator to Architect. And finally, you’re open and borderless - naturally inclusive in how you work with others.\nRequired Technical and Professional Expertise\n7+ years IBM System Z experience and concepts, with considerable knowledge in the following:Administration & tooling: software installation via SMP/E, along with database management and performance optimization using IBM, BMC, and Broadcom toolsets.\nDistributed access & security: remote client/application connectivity via DDF and DRDA, integrated with RACF, ACF2, or TopSecret access control.\n Storage, DR & architecture: FLASH copy, DASD replication, DB2 forward recovery, z/OS storage management, Coupling Facility, networking (TCP/IP, SNA), WLM, and USS.\n\n5+ years IBM DB2 experience, with advanced knowledge in the following: Memory & internal structures: buffer pools, page and tablespace layouts, and DB2 internal components (EDM pool, RIDs).\nData sharing, logging & availability: data sharing sysplex management, ZPARMS configuration, and backup, recovery, and logging strategies.\nConcurrency & performance diagnostics: lock/latch contention management, IFCID tracing, and performance monitoring.\n\nExperience in problem determination and analysis\nAnalytical / critical / “outside-the-box” thinking in problem solving, especially in possible critical, high-pressure situations.\nPreferred Technical and Professional Experience\nBachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.\nBMC Mainview For DB2, IBM Omegamon for DB2\nIBM Query Monitor for DB2\nJava, web services, SOA concepts\nREXX programming\nBeing You\nThe “Kyn” in Kyndryl means kinship, which represents the strong bonds we have with each other, our customers and our communities.
