You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients - which means some of the biggest in the world.\nThere’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, implement, and maintain IBM Z Mainframe I/O configurations using HCD and IOCP.\nDevelop, manage, and validate IOCDS definitions and configuration changes.\nSupport IBM Z processor upgrades, CPC activations, hardware refreshes, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.\nConfigure and manage channel paths, control units, DASD, tape subsystems, and FICON infrastructure.\nPerform I/O configuration planning, validation, testing, and production implementation activities.\nSupport data center relocations, site migrations, hardware migrations, and disaster recovery site swaps.\nCoordinate hardware installation, implementation, and activation activities with vendors, data center teams, and stakeholders.\nValidate production IPL readiness and support IPL planning, execution, and post-implementation activities.\nManage LPAR configurations, PR/SM resources, and channel path utilization to ensure optimal system performance.\nCollaborate with storage, network, systems programming, and operations teams to support enterprise infrastructure requirements.\nParticipate in GDPS and disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation activities.\nSupport SAN connectivity, FICON Directors, enterprise storage integration, and storage migration projects.\nCreate and maintain technical documentation, configuration standards, operating procedures, and implementation plans.\nYour Future at Kyndryl\nEvery position at Kyndryl provides a pathway to continuous learning and career growth. And finally, you’re open and borderless - naturally inclusive in how you work with others.\nRequired Technical Skills\n5+ years of experience in Mainframe I/O Configuration.\nStrong expertise in HCD (Hardware Configuration Definition) and IOCP (Input/Output Configuration Program).\nExperience in IOCDS generation, activation, and maintenance.\nStrong understanding of FICON architecture and channel subsystem design.\nExperience with DASD configuration, enterprise storage management, and tape infrastructure.\nKnowledge of IBM Z CPC hardware design, configuration, and administration.\nExperience with z/OS IPL planning, execution, and support.\nChannel path management, optimization, and performance tuning.\nExperience in hardware migration planning and execution.\nUnderstanding of GDPS concepts, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.\nExperience with Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019 administration.\nHands-on experience with VMware ESXi and virtualization technologies.\nKnowledge of public/private cloud environments and migration from on-premises infrastructure.\nExperience with Active Directory and AD FS administration.\nExposure to vulnerability management, security compliance, and infrastructure hardening.\nExperience with automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.\nPreferred Experience\nIBM Z Mainframe Hardware and I/O Configuration certification or equivalent experience.\nStrong hands-on experience with IBM HCD and IOCP.\nExperience with FICON Directors, SAN connectivity, and enterprise storage integration.\nKnowledge of IBM DS8000 and other enterprise storage platforms.\nExperience supporting IBM Z CPC upgrades, PR/SM, LPAR configurations, and processor migrations.\nFamiliarity with GDPS, high-availability solutions, and disaster recovery environments.\nExperience with z/OS IPL processes, HMC administration, and system activation procedures.\nKnowledge of Parallel Sysplex and multi-site mainframe environments.\nExperience with data center transformation and hardware migration projects.\nFamiliarity with automation, scripting, configuration management, and cloud automation technologies.\nAbility to collaborate with infrastructure, storage, network, and application teams to ensure high availability and operational excellence.\nBeing You\nThe “Kyn” in Kyndryl means kinship, which represents the strong bonds we have with each other, our customers and our communities.
