For over 70 years, L3Harris has designed and developed industry-leading carriage and release systems for fighter, rotary-wing and unmanned platforms and we design, manufacture and test a large portion of our release systems portfolio in our Brighton facility which offers 48,500 square feet of manufacturing space. Our mission-critical release systems equipment is on most major airborne fighter platforms worldwide, including the F-35, along with other aircraft like the Gripen and Typhoon.\nPlease note, our Brighton business is moving to a new location in 2027. The new site is expected to be located in either Shoreham, Burgess Hill or Horsham and will be within a 15-minute drive of our current site.\nWe are seeking a motivated Configuration Management Engineer to support the delivery of Configuration Management (CM) and Data Management (DM) activities across engineering programmes throughout the product lifecycle.\nThis role is ideal for someone at the start of their engineering career who has strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and an interest in engineering processes and governance. You will work closely with engineering teams and experienced Configuration Management professionals, developing your knowledge of C&DM principles, processes and tools while helping to maintain the integrity of project data and technical baselines.\nYou will receive training and support to build your understanding of the five key Configuration Management disciplines: Planning, Identification, Change Control, Status Accounting, and Verification & Audit.\nA few of our employee benefits are:\nHybrid working where possible, three days onsite per week - upon successful completion of probationary period.\nHalf day finish on a Friday\n25 days holiday per year (plus bank holidays), increasing with long service and with the opportunity to buy/sell up to 5 days \nPrivate medical insurance with optional family cover\nPension scheme of up to 8% employer contribution\nLife Assurance 4x salary (flexible up to 10x) \nGroup income protection\nFlexible opt-in extras such as a health care cash plan, dental insurance, gym membership, critical illnesscover, cycle to work scheme, travel insurance and electric car scheme\nEmployee Family Assistance Program providing mental health and wellbeing support \nProfessional membership reimbursement (discretionary) \nWhat the role will involve\nThe responsibilities of your role will include the following:\nAssisting with the implementation of Configuration Management processes across engineering projects.\nSupporting the preparation, maintenance, and review of Configuration Management Plans and associated documentation.\nMaintaining configuration records, product structures, baselines, and project data within approved tools and repositories.\nSupporting engineering change processes by preparing documentation, tracking actions, and maintaining change records.\nAssisting with Configuration Status Accounting activities, including the collection, management, and reporting of configuration information.\nSupporting configuration verification and audit activities to ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable procedures.\nWorking with engineering and programme teams to ensure technical data and deliverables are correctly identified, controlled, and released on time.\nAssisting with document control, issue management, and data distribution activities.\nContributing to process improvement activities and supporting the adoption of Configuration Management best practice.\nMaintaining accurate records whilst working to agreed quality, schedule, and business requirements.\nWhat you’ll bring\nThe role requires the following experience and skills:\nDegree, HNC/HND, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Business Systems, Project Controls, or a related discipline.\nBasic understanding of Configuration Management principles and their application within an engineering environment.\nStrong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nA logical and methodical approach to problem solving.\nAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and other document control applications.\nWillingness to learn and develop knowledge of Configuration Management and engineering lifecycle processes.\nDesirable\nUnderstanding of document control, quality management systems, or engineering governance processes.\nFamiliarity with engineering, product lifecycle management (PLM), or document management tools.\nFamiliarity with programming or scripting languages, such as Python, and an interest in using automation to improve engineering and configuration management processes. \nAwareness of data analysis and reporting techniques using tools such as Python, Power BI, or Microsoft Excel.\nUnderstanding of version control concepts and tools (e.g. Git) would be advantageous.\nImportant to know\nDue to the nature of our work many our roles require a UK nationality and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
