From long-range covert surveillance missions to search and rescue operations, our MX-series systems, and the mission systems solutions they are a part of, produce stabilized high-magnification electro1-optical and infrared images from airborne, marine and ground based platforms, enabling our customers to see first and act first.\nAbout the Role\nAre you interested in control systems, sensors, and how complex engineering systems are developed and verified?\nWe are looking for an Engineering Co-op Student to join our team developing advanced electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) systems. This role provides an opportunity to do hands-on engineering analysis, testing, and systems engineering to gain exposure to how sophisticated products are designed, integrated, tested and qualified for demanding environments. The position is fast paced and requires close collaboration with cross-functional optical, mechanical, electrical and software engineering teams to ensure design consistency, traceability and compliance with program and industry standards. This is a 16 month co-op term (with 12 month terms occasionally available).\nPrimary Responsibilities\nAssist with developing and maintaining system and product requirements for stabilized EO/IR cameras using database management tools\nPerform requirement analysis, decomposition, traceability from customer needs and verification planning\nWork with engineers from multiple disciplines to design and evaluate complex system designs and architectures\nSupport the development of test procedures, engineering documentation and environmental qualification test reports\nHelp organize and interpret data generated during environmental, functional and performance testing\nSupport analysis and tuning of PID controllers, feedback control algorithms, and inertial navigation systems\nSupport flight and vehicle testing of inertial navigation systems and GPS equipment integration\nSupport and execute laboratory tests to evaluate camera and control system performance\nUsing MATLAB, Python, and other software tools, capture and analyze data, model system behaviour, or automate engineering tasks\nRequired Capabilities\nExcellent report writing skills\nAdvanced knowledge of MS Office applications\nAbility to work with many engineers to coordinate interdepartmental efforts\nGood understanding of both Mechanical and Electrical aspects of Engineering\nExperience with electro-mechanical systems, optic or laser devices is an asset but not required\nDesired Education and Experiences\nMust be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in either Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Aviation/Aerospace Engineering, or related field at an accredited university.\nCoursework and/or experience in systems engineering, systems architecture, systems analysis and design, system performance modeling, integration and/or project management, and/or model-based systems engineering an asset\nCoursework and/or experience in Kalman filtering, control theory, state estimation, dynamic system modeling, signal processing is an asset\nCoursework and/or experience in optics, image processing, computer vision is an asset\nSkills with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++ or similar tools is an asset\nExperience with laboratory equipment and data acquisition is an asset\nDiversity & Inclusion\nWe believe that diversity among our employees makes us a stronger organization.\nWe are committed to diversity and inclusion within our L3Harris WESCAM family, and our community by welcoming and encouraging applications from anyone interested without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran's status, Aboriginal status or any other legally-protected groups.
