In this role, you will support the design and development of advanced space-qualified power hardware for mission-critical applications. This is an opportunity to contribute to innovative spacecraft and payload power solutions in a fast-paced engineering environment where concepts move into production reality.\nThe ideal candidate brings deep expertise in spacecraft electrical power subsystem design, including power architecture development, circuit simulation, detailed analysis, hardware verification, and cross-functional collaboration. This position will play a key role in supporting current and future programs, internal research and development efforts, and strategic growth initiatives.\nEssential Functions:\nLead the design and development of advanced power hardware using sound electrical engineering principles and best practices.\nSupport all phases of hardware development, including requirements analysis, architecture definition, detailed design, schematic capture, simulation, documentation, manufacturing, integration, and verification.\nTranslate customer and system-level requirements into detailed electrical specifications and power architectures while balancing technical, cost, and schedule constraints.\nDesign and analyze isolated and non-isolated power conversion topologies, including: \nAC/DC converters\nDC/DC converters\nBattery chargers\nPower management and distribution circuits\nPerform detailed analysis of power circuits for: \nVoltage regulation and voltage ripple analysis\nCustom magnetics design\nMitigation of Single Event Transients due to particle strikes\nTotal dose radiation (given parametric degradations)\nNeutron fluence (given parametric degradations)\nEfficiency\nThermal performance\nControl-loop stability\nEMI/EMC\nTransient response\nProvide mentorship and technical guidance to power engineers.\nTroubleshoot and resolve hardware issues at the component, board, module, payload, and system levels.\nUse laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, source meters, electronic loads, signal generators, multimeters, and DC power supplies to validate designs and investigate issues.\nConduct trade studies and develop conceptual power solutions in support of proposals, IRAD, and new business opportunities.\nCollaborate with program leadership, manufacturing, systems engineering, and other cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-quality hardware solutions.\nEvaluate component tolerances and environmental impacts to ensure robust design margins for high-reliability applications in harsh operating environments.\nSupport risk reduction and mitigation activities related to obsolescence, cost, producibility, and long-lead materials.\nExperience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Review Boards (FRB)\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another relevant STEM field or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience\nExperience interpreting high-level requirements and developing power architectures\nStrong experience in electronic power design, including: \nPower devices\nControl loop theory\nThermal management\nCustom magnetics design\nPrinted wiring board layout\nEMI filtering\nTechnical knowledge of spacecraft power subsystems, including: \nAbility to model spacecraft mission orbital average power, energy balance, and solar arrays \nBatteries\nPower topologies and charging systems\nPower control and switching\nRegulation\nDistribution\nPower quality\nPreferred Qualifications:\nAbility to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance\nProposal generation with technical architecture/cost/schedule\nExperience performing detailed analysis of power circuit custom magnetics\nExperience with mission definition, concept generation, trade studies, preliminary and final design, component selection, integration, test support, materials selection, and design documentation\nExperience developing qualified deliverable power hardware for space, aerospace, defense, medical, or other mission-critical applications\nExperience working with manufacturing and production teams in a program environment\nExperience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Review Boards (FRB)\nExperience generating and presenting technical material to program leadership, customers, and review boards\nStrong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills\nAbility to collaborate effectively across technical teams and leadership levels\nExperience serving as a subcontract technical representative, including supplier evaluation, statement of work development, and technical oversight of external deliverables\nExperience with ECAD and analysis tools such including:LTSpice\nPSpice\nCadence\nSiemens Xpedition\n\nExperience integrating firmware/software with hardware in lab and system environments\nMathcad, MATLAB, Python, or similar programming experience for modeling, analysis, and automation\nExperience modeling spacecraft mission orbital average power and energy balance \n#LI-LS4\nPlease be aware many of our positions require the ability to obtain a security clearance.
