The ideal candidate will have a background in orbital mechanics, space systems, space operations, integration & test experience and team management.\nThe Lead Systems Engineer provides advanced technical leadership in space operations including tactics development, planning, exercises, and lifecycle support of complex systems with an emphasis on protecting and defending space assets. This role applies space operations principles across the space enterprise including partners from the IC.\nThe engineer works independently on complex assignments, leads cross-functional technical efforts, and supports program execution from concept development through production and sustainment. The position requires strong collaboration with hardware, software, mechanical, test, quality, and management of teams to ensure the delivered solution meets performance, cost, schedule, and compliance requirements.\nEssential Functions:\nWork full time at a customer site in Colorado Springs.\nCoordinate with geographically separated operators, creating synergy between various commands and organizations.\nCertify as BSA-N crew member and periodically work crew shifts that may include holidays, nights, and weekends.\nPartner with members of the IC in support of the Protect and Defend mission.\nSupport the development of CONOPS, procedures and the operational checkout of new systems and applications.\nParticipate in customer planning, technical exchange, and coordination meetings, as well as Engineering Review Boards.\nSupport the PMO with technical inputs on contract performance.\nParticipate in and provide site specific information for the project readiness review cycle, develop and conduct design reviews, and provide implementation coordination with affected users.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.\nActive Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information and an in-scope fully adjudicated Counterintelligence Polygraph.\nPreferred Additional Skills:\nSTK Certification and/or Astrogator knowledge.\nFamiliarity with DoD/NRO spacecraft and missions.\nPrior experience supporting Joint Operations including Joint Pubs 3-14 & 5.0.\nPrior space operations lead responsibilities.\nKnowledge of SAP/STO mission areas.\nSpace Domain Awareness experience.\nPrior support to Tier-1 military exercises.\nExperience applying systems engineering processes across the product lifecycle.\nExperience working in cross-functional engineering teams on complex technical programs.\nAbility to analyze and resolve complex technical issues with limited oversight.\nStrong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.\nIn compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado is $110,500 to $205,500.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
