This frontline leadership role is responsible for guiding the team’s execution across engineering development efforts, including planning, research and development, and program execution in support of projects, pursuits, and programs.\nThe Software Engineering Manager is also responsible for key functional leadership areas, including workforce and resource planning, recruiting, training, talent development, employee engagement, and retention. This leader will work proactively with functional and business leadership to align staffing, technical execution, and team capabilities with evolving program and business needs.\nIn this role, the selected candidate will regularly communicate and collaborate with stakeholders both inside and outside the organization, including customers and vendors. The position requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to engage leadership on matters important to the function or business area, including providing briefings to senior leaders.\nEssential Functions:\nManage and direct the day-to-day activities of the Software Engineering team and coordinate individual work assignments.\nLead Software Engineering design and development efforts, managing technical scope and delivering to technical, cost, and schedule objective.\nGuide software development and delivery for embedded and other applications as needed, driving process efficiency and rigor, creating best practices, andperforming code and design reviews.\nCollaborate with other software managers as well as Electrical, Systems Engineering managers, Program Chief Engineering team to ensure effective product development through optimizing engineering assignments across the development organization.\nIdentify and establish development processes and standards to enhance productivity and performance of the team.\nProvide mentorship, coaching and guidance to team members with respect to career development and opportunities for growth.\nContribute to development on projects as required.\nDevelop individual performance goals and team key results, monitor and measure performance, and prepare and deliver formal performance assessments.\nRecruitment and hiring as business needs require. \nParticipate in engineering proposal efforts including cost estimation and Basis of Estimate development.\nManage matrix organization manpower allocation.\nQualifications:\nA Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering with a minimum 9 years of experience in an engineering development environment; or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience, in lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.\nMinimum of 2 years of prior experience in leading and managing engineering personnel.\nAt least 6 years of experience in the software development environment. \nActive US Government Secret security clearance.\nPreferred Additional Skills:\nExperience with recruiting and hiring technical talent.\nExperience developing technical and cost volume inputs for proposals.\nExperience as a Cost Account Manager utilizing EVMS, Program execution lifecycle.\nExperience working within an Agile development environment is highly desirable. Scrum Team certification and/or experience. \nExperience leading proposal development and Basis of Estimate generation.\nDevelopment experience in any of the following areas would be considered highly beneficial: Real Time embedded software development, Information Assurance, video communications, embedded interfaces (I2C, RS232, CAN, Ethernet), Safety Critical systems.\nEncryption and Authorization military standards, product certification and design patterns. BoE preparation and Risk Registry development.\nExperience with DevOps process, tools, and procedures is highly desirable.\nIn compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $135,000 - $250,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
