Primary area of focus will be on Electronic Warfare (EW) applications. Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes electrical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints as well as design for manufacture viability. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. Able to identify component operational characteristics that may impact system performance and/or sustainability. May also review vendor capability to support development and manage supplier technical performance.\nEssential Functions:\nAnalyze top level specifications for RF subsystems and develop top level architecture, including partitioning of functionality amongst lower-level subassemblies\nDecompose specifications into detailed functional requirements at the card/module level\nPerform detailed electromechanical design of top-level subsystem in coordination with all design functions\nDesign, analyze, and integrate RF subsystems using direct RF sampling and high-speed mixed-signal architectures.\nPerform trade studies involving ADC/DAC selection, analog front-end design, spurious performance, instantaneous bandwidth, SFDR, SNR, ENOB, and dynamic range.\nCollaborate with digital, FPGA, DSP, software, and hardware design teams to partition functions between analog and digital domains.\nParticipate in design reviews and provide technical leadership on architecture and implementation decisions.\nWork with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to transition designs into production.\nOversee cost/schedule/technical progress of RF subsystems\nDevelop test specifications and execute design verification tests for RF Subsystems, support integration at system level\nReview the work of junior engineers and provide guidance where needed, perform technical mentoring\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.\nPreferred Additional Skills:\nExperience with subassembly level RF design (circuit card and/or RF module)\nExperience with frequency synthesizer design with expertise in PLL architecture, DDS, frequency planning, low noise references, clock distribution, and mixed-signal RF implementation tradeoffs.\nExperience leading complex root cause/corrective action analyses\nExperience with ADCs/DACs, RFSoC platforms, high-speed JESD interfaces, or digitally intensive receiver architectures.\nFamiliarity with wideband tuners, channelized receivers, beamforming, digital down conversion, and spectral analysis pipelines.\nExperience with FPGA/DSP integration and understanding of digital signal processing allocation.\nExperience with system-level analysis of spur budgets, calibration strategies, and converter nonlinearity effects.\nKnowledge of EMI/EMC, environmental qualification, and military/defense development standards.\nFamiliarity with earned value measurement, experience as an integrated product team leader\nExperience with requirements management software (DOORS, etc.)\nUnderstanding of operation and theory of EW systems\nThorough understanding of key RF parameters (bandwidth, gain compression, intermodulation distortion, noise figure, spurious emissions, etc.)\nExperience designing or integrating RF receiver/exciter subsystems using direct RF sampling or high-speed data converters.\nStrong understanding of:Sampling theory\nNyquist zone planning\nAliasing and filtering\nADC/DAC performance metrics\nClocking and jitter effects\nPhase noise and spectral purity\n\nExperience with top level RF system design tools (Genesys, SystemVue, or equivalent)\nAbility to develop and interpret subsystem requirements, block diagrams, and interface definitions.\nExpert with RF lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, and phase noise measurement tools.\nWorks independently with minimal guidance\nUS DoD Secret security clearance or equivalent\nIn compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $153,000 - $284,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
