You will be responsible for leading ME efforts in pursuit of new business preproposals and proposal support, including generation of BOEs, and function as responsible Mechanical Project Engineer on programs and internal development projects as needed. As an individual contributor, you will be responsible for the design, layout, testing and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems with emphasis on electronic packaging for Electronic Warfare programs. This includes preparation of design specifications and performing/ review of thermal, structural, dynamic and fatigue analysis to meet mechanical requirements and determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. The position will interface with Designers, Thermal/Structural Analysts, Systems Engineers, other engineering disciplines, Program Managers, and customer counterparts. The position will require leading the mechanical engineering activities related to the design, analysis, documentation, fabrication, assembly and qualification of product to the specification requirements, typically with stringent technical, schedule, and process requirements. You will investigate solutions to product or process problems and be part of the Failure Review Board (FRB). Candidate must have experience in 3D modeling, critical HW design and development to include environmental requirements, power delivery, and aggressive thermal management. Candidate must have the ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplined team environment. Candidate must have experience leading a team and pushing forward mechanical technologies.\nEssential Functions:\nServe as the Chief ME for the business and point of contact for GM, CEs, PMs and ME Leadership\nBe the Subject Matter Expert for EW programs and products.\nDetailed mechanical design and analysis of electronic systems, boxes, and modules\nSpecification, model, and drawing generation per ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5\nGenerate mechanical engineering design concepts which meet equipment specification requirements and refine the design through the use of CAD designs, 3D printed models, simulation tools, and functional prototypes.\nMechanical and environmental testing and mechanical troubleshooting of electronics systems\nTravel (domestic and foreign) may be required 2-5% in a year\nProposal support and development\nAssist with developing overall site wide Mechanical strategy\nWork closely with cross-functional teams in the development of new solutions.\nSignificant CAD modeling of parts & assemblies\nPerform trade studies to determine optimal designs\nReview Structural and thermal analysis of components & assemblies\nHave deep understanding of thermal management of high-power electronics in constrained volumes.\nElectromechanical integration and electronics packaging\nLead mechanical design efforts\nLead peer reviews, PDRs, CDRs, and other required design reviews\nSchedule, cost, and technical responsibility at the major subsystem level\nInterface to customers & upper management\nProvide guidance and mentorship for other team members formally or informally\nResponsible for directing and reviewing the work of junior engineers and designers and technicians.\nParticipate in risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies for complex projects\nAbility to obtain and maintain a US secret security clearance and any additional clearances as required\nTake roles such as IPT Lead when necessary\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in engineering and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.\nPreferred Additional Skills:\nExperience with standard ASME Y14.5M-1994 and GD&T\nMinimum of 6 years’ experience in 3D CAD modeling - PTC Creo\nMinimum of 8 years’ experience packaging electronics including design for and testing to military environments (i.e. temperature, vibration, shock, etc.)\nMinimum of 8 years’ experience with thermal management of high-power electronics.\nExperience leading in the generation of technical content for bids: scope capture, requirements development, materials pricing, and labor estimates as required\nAbility to obtain a Top-Secret security clearance\nExcellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.\nExcellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)\nStrong hands-on capabilities, to include integration and diagnosis of complex mechanisms and products\nDesign for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFMA) experience\nVibration and shock analysis for airborne applications\nAdditive manufacturing and part optimization experience a plus\nBasic understanding of control systems\nExperience with machined part design\nExperience with EVMS cost and schedule practices\nFamiliarity with Windchill, military design and environmental test standards, FloTHERM, Matlab, and MathCAD\nFamiliarity with ME role in PCB design process\nKnowledge of electrical and optical cable routing and management in high reliability environments\nOversight of a team of Mechanical Engineers. Responsibilities to include:Partnering with programs to ensure they are correctly staffed, engineering processes are being followed, and proposal efforts are supported.\n\nTracking performance of a Clifton Mechanical Engineering group including staffing, training, onboarding, employee development, engagement and proactive retention\nRegular review of metrics to drive year-over-year performance improvement\nServing as ME functional representative for site specific design reviews and review/approval of proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs) as needed\nProviding technical evaluation and oversight of program execution and leading/participating in technical issue resolution teams when required\nEnsuring knowledge transfer and mentoring of less experienced engineers occurs within the overall department\nIn compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $146,000 - $271,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
