Manual and semi-automated tooling such as jigs, fixtures, molds, mandrels, and lifting devices are all required in the fabrication and assembly of solid fuel rocket motors. Tool Engineers are responsible to define all of these items. The role of Tool Engineering is mixture of design, structural analysis, project management and hands on manufacturing.\nEssential Functions:\nWork with cross functional teams define tool requirements.\nDesign using PTC Creo and Windchill in accordance with principles of Design for Manufacturability.\nUse finite element analysis (FEA) methods and tools to perform structural analysis of tools in order to predict internal stresses and resolve structural instabilities.\nConduct design reviews with cross functional teams to obtain approval of tool designs.\nOversee procurement and fabrication of tooling.\nWork with Manufacturing Engineers to perform functional evaluations and acceptance of the tooling.\nPerform liaison support for tool maintenance by identification of tool problems, design of repairs and implementation of modifications.\nSkilled in application of GD&T and system tolerance analysis.\nProficient with tools of Microsoft Office Suite.\nAbility to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.\nTravel (5%).\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior Mechanical Engineering experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior Mechanical Engineering experience.
