It is responsible for the supervision of a small team and duties are notionally split at approximately 70% technical/design and 30% management. Responsibilities in both aspects of the role are articulated separately below.\nWhat the role will involve\nThe responsibilities of your role will include the following:\nLead, mentor and support a small team of Electrical Engineers, ensuring effective delivery, technical excellence and professional development.\nManage team priorities, workload and resource planning, providing technical leadership and guidance across projects.\nDesign, develop and prototype power and control circuits, including programmable logic devices, from concept through to production.\nProduce and review schematics, PCB layouts (Altium), power budgets and engineering documentation.\nOversee design reviews, verification activities and compliance with performance, quality and reliability requirements.\nIdentify and manage technical risks, contributing to project delivery within schedule and budget constraints.\nWork closely with Procurement, Manufacturing and external suppliers to support prototype and production activities.\nContribute to bids, proposals, R&D initiatives and continuous improvement activities.\nSupport quality, regulatory and AS9100 compliance requirements, ensuring designs meet reliability, manufacturability and customer expectations.\nPromote a strong culture of safety, security and export control compliance.\nWhat you’ll bring\nThe role requires the following experience and skills:\nDegree qualified (or equivalent) in Electronics/Electrical Engineering.\n6+ years’ prior relevant experience in a similar role.\nEligible for registration with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (RPEQ).\nExperience in generating DC schematic diagrams and DC PCB layouts with Altium (or equivalent).\nAbility to lead small design team.\nAbility to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.\nOutstanding time management skills.\nAbility to deal with customers and present design details during customer reviews.\nHold Australian Government Security Clearance NV1 (minimum)\n\nDesirable:\nExpert knowledge of Altium for generating DC schematic diagrams and DC PCB layouts.\nExperience in working with customers to understand project requirements and generate specifications.\nExperience with designing for and testing EMI/EMC compliance.\nExperience with design for manufacture and developing assembly and test documentation for operation in a production environment.\nExperience with a production environment.\nAbout L3Harris Australia\n\nL3Harris in Eight Mile Plains is The Centre of Excellence for Electronic Warfare and is home to world-leading design, manufacture and integration expertise and the sustainment of high-reliability electronic warfare components.
