The Tool Design Engineer will develop manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes. Actively participates with engineering project teams in order to coordinate the release of new products. Design manufacturing tooling for the production of solid fuel rocket motors and warheads. Develop jigs, fixtures, lifting devices, and semi-automated equipment to cast and assemble the final product. Design major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes CAD equipment to develop basic data and make preliminary layouts, sketches and notes necessary to present design proposals. Investigates and makes decisions regarding pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specification requirements and cost.\nEssential Functions:\nExperienced professional with proficient knowledge of job area and practical knowledge of project management. \nMay manage projects or processes with general supervision. \nCommunicates with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures. \nRecommends enhancements to systems and processes. \nWorks to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.\nDesign mechanical equipment using PTC Creo and Windchill.\nInterface with production, program management and safety to develop requirements and tooling needs.\nDefine existing equipment problems, design repairs and modifications.\nAbility to obtain a US Secret security clearance.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior design engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior design engineering experience experience.
