This role is responsible for supporting the design, sustainment, and continuous improvement of electrical and electronic products used in naval shipboard communication and navigation products. This role focuses on obsolescence management, printed circuit board (PCB) redesigns, development of production test equipment, and engineering support for manufacturing operations.\nEssential Functions:\nWork closely with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and production teams to ensure products remain manufacturable, reliable, and compliant with customer and military requirements.\nManage electronic component obsolescence by identifying at-risk components, evaluating replacement options, and implementing engineering solutions to maintain product availability.\nDesign, update, troubleshoot, and maintain production and engineering test fixtures used for manufacturing, qualification, and acceptance testing.\nPerform PCB respins to address component obsolescence, design improvements, manufacturability enhancements, and defect corrections while maintaining form, fit, and function.\nCreate and modify electrical schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.\nSupport root cause investigations and corrective actions for electrical failures encountered during production and testing.\nDevelop and execute verification and validation testing for PCB revisions and test fixture modifications.\nGenerate and maintain engineering change orders (ECOs), bills of materials (BOMs), assembly drawings, and technical documentation.\nProvide technical support to production personnel and assist in resolving manufacturing issues in a timely manner.\nParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost reduction, and manufacturing efficiency.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related engineering discipline and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.5+ years of experience in electrical engineering within a manufacturing environment.\nExperience with PCB design, schematic capture, and board-level troubleshooting.\nKnowledge of electronic components, component lifecycle management, and obsolescence mitigation.\nExperience designing or modifying production test fixtures and automated test equipment.\nFamiliarity with engineering documentation, BOM management, and engineering change processes.\nProficiency using electronic CAD tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, Cadence, or similar software.\nStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills.\nExcellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.\nPreferred Additional Skills:\nExperience supporting military, defense or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.\nKnowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Testability (DFT), and IPC standards.\nExperience with microcontroller-based designs.\nFamiliarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.\nExperience supporting military qualification testing and environmental testing.\n In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Virginia is $84,000- $156,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
