Since its inception, L3Harris has continuously iterated upon our Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) technology and successfully exported and delivered the system to over 300 vessels across 27 navies worldwide. Together, we are powering the Royal Navy’s adoption of autonomous surface vehicle technology as well as delivering autonomous capability to UK ports, harbours and offshore energy service providers.\nAs a Specialist Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of complex hardware development programmes, working across mechanical, electrical, and integrated system solutions. You will be responsible for developing and managing system requirements, architectures, interfaces, and baselines throughout the engineering lifecycle.\nWorking closely with multi-disciplinary teams, you will ensure the successful integration, verification, and validation of system solutions that meet performance, cost, and schedule objectives. You will provide technical leadership, manage engineering risks and issues, and support the delivery of compliant, high-quality solutions for our customers.\nA few of our employee benefits are:\n37.5 hour working week\nHybrid working where possible, three days onsite per week\nHalf day finish on a Friday\n25 days holiday per year (plus bank holidays), increasing with long service and with the opportunity to buy/sell up to 5 days \nPrivate medical insurance with optional family cover\nPension scheme of up to 8% employer contribution\nLife Assurance 4x salary (flexible up to 10x) \nGroup income protection\nFlexible opt-in extras such as a health care cash plan, dental insurance, gym membership, critical illness cover, cycle to work scheme, travel insurance and electric car scheme\nEmployee Family Assistance Program providing mental health and wellbeing support \nProfessional membership reimbursement (discretionary) \nWhat the role will involve\nThe responsibilities of your role will include the following:\nLead Systems Engineering activities across complex engineering programmes.\nDevelop, capture, and manage system requirements, architectures, interfaces, and design baselines.\nCoordinate cross-functional engineering teams to support successful programme delivery.\nPlan and oversee system verification and validation activities, ensuring all requirements are met.\nIdentify, manage, and mitigate technical risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle.\nProvide technical guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders.\nContribute to the delivery of solutions that achieve customer, cost, schedule, and performance objectives.\nWhat you’ll bring\nThe role requires the following experience and skills:\nPrior related full lifecycle Systems Engineering experience \nStrong planning, communication, and stakeholder management skills.\nStrong requirements engineering experience, including elicitation, analysis, validation, and management.\nSolid understanding of systems engineering principles, including system hierarchy, boundaries, interfaces, partitioning, and complexity management.\nExperience working on hardware-based engineering programmes.\nExperience working within defence, aerospace, or similarly regulated engineering environments.\nProficiency in IBM DOORS is essential.\nExperience with System Architect, Rhapsody, or other MBSE tools would be advantageous.\nImportant to know\nDue to the nature of our work many our roles require a UK nationality and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
