{"id":3069159,"url":"https://alion.io/job/la-porte-tx-solid-waste-supervisor","title":"Solid Waste Supervisor","company":{"id":2570897,"name":"La Porte, TX","domain":"laportetx.gov","url":"https://alion.io/company/laportetx","size_band":null,"is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"Paycor","truth_index":null},"role":"Industrial Engineering","role_family":"Industrial Engineering","seniority":"junior","employment_type":null,"work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["La Porte, United States"],"countries":["US"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":{"min":29703,"max":37129,"currency":"USD","period":"year","gross":null,"usd_annual":37129},"salary_estimate":null,"experience_years_min":2,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-10-22T08:55:17Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-10-22","last_verified_at":"2026-10-24T23:16:15Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":2,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":2},"description":"SOLID WASTE SUPERVISOR\nCategory: Full-Time\nStatus: Open\nHourly: Min. $29.703 - Mid. $37.129 EFF: 10/1/2026\nPublished: September 23, 2026 \nClosing: Until Filled\nDEFINITION\nTo coordinate and implement specific solid waste collection activity; to supervise either commercial or residential refuse collection activities; and to assist in solid waste program development.\nSUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED\nReceives direction from the Solid Waste Superintendent.\nExercises direct supervision over solid waste collection personnel.\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS\nDuties may include, but are not limited to, the following:\nOrganize and schedule refuse collection activities such as commercial solid waste removal, residential collection, and container repair and maintenance.\nAssist in planning new collection routes and revising existing routes to meet workload demands and provide efficient service.\nAssist in the selection, training, and evaluation of staff.\nManage inventory of plastic garbage bags.\nMonitor the condition and maintenance of solid waste collection vehicles including mechanical compactors and lifting mechanisms.\nOrder necessary equipment and supplies.\nSupervise employee training and safety programs.\nMaintain records and develop reports concerning program effectiveness and efficiency.\nAssist in preparation and administration of Solid Waste Division budget.\nPerform related duties as assigned.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nFor indefinite periods of time - mobility within an office and field environment; exposure to mechanical, fume, and odor hazards; exposure to extreme cold and heat; sitting; seeing; standing; stooping; walking; reading; decision making; reaching above shoulder level; lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds; using both hands for simple and firm grasping; clarity of hearing; communicating clearly and effectively, in person and by two-way radio; fine finger manipulation; operating a motor vehicle through city traffic.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nKnowledge of:\nMethods, procedures, and practices of solid waste collection.\nCity streets and thoroughfares.\nEffective procedures and techniques of routing, scheduling, and work management.\nOccupational hazards and safety procedures related to solid waste collection and transportation.\nMachinery, equipment, and supplies necessary for operation of a municipal solid waste program.\nAbility to:\nPlan, schedule, and coordinate refuse collection routes.\nAssist in the selection, supervision, training, and evaluation of staff.\nAssist in the preparation and administration of a budget.\nCommunicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.\nOperate a personal computer, calculator, and two-way radio.\nEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.\nTRAINING AND EXPERIENCE\nTwo years of increasingly responsible experience in Solid Waste Management with administrative and supervisory responsibilities.
