Together, we’re improving health and improving lives.\nLabcorp is seeking an Associate Chemist to join our Toxicology team in Burlington, NC!\nSchedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm\nJob Responsibilities\nReview and certify LC/MS data from instruments utilizing Analyst and Ascent software\nDetermine if data is acceptable or not and then upload results\nResponsible for the verification of the calibration, quality controls, and patient data up to and including result entry\nMaintain, calibrate, and clean instrumentation; perform scheduled/routine maintenance and critical function checks on analytical equipment such as GC, GC-MS, HPLC, and UPLC-MS/MS as well as other chromatographic and laboratory equipment\nDiagnose and repair issues occurring in the above listed equipment; recognize significant changes in instrument function; troubleshoot as indicated.\nGains knowledge of department operations and procedures under direct supervision and in an entry level capacity\nConducts qualitative and quantitative analyses on organic and inorganic samples to determine their chemical properties. Participates in development of new analytical procedures\nPerform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures\nDemonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving\nEvaluate raw and final data for accuracy; recognize and correct errors or unusual results\nProvide guidance to technical staff with the analysis and interpretation of final results\nAssist with training and orientation of new employees as needed\nPerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures\nIdentify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology\n2 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree\nPreferred Qualifications\n3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience\nASCP or AMT certification\nAdditional Job Standards\nDemonstrated success in clinical testing technical proficiency and scientific knowledge\nAdvanced knowledge and understanding of specific laboratory and/or department functions\nAbility to exercise judgment to determine methods and procedures on new assignments\nProficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems\nHigh level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills\nAbility to work independently and within a team environment\nAble to pass a standardized color blindness test\nFlexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs\nAt Labcorp we have a passion for helping people live happy and healthy lives.
