Together, we’re improving health and improving lives.\nLabCorp is seeking a Histotechnician to join our team in Portland,OR\nWork Schedule: casual/per diem\nJob Responsibilities:\nProcess human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic examination\nPerform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides from surgical specimens\nEmbed, orient, and section tissue using a microtome, ensuring proper slide preparation\nPerform routine histology procedures, including H&E and special staining techniques\nConduct immunohistochemical (IHC) testing on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections\nPrepare stains, reagents, and solutions required for laboratory procedures\nOperate, maintain, and troubleshoot manual and automated laboratory instrumentation\nReport accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care\nPerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures\nMaintain accurate equipment logs and documentation\nFollow laboratory SOPs for specimen handling, processing, analysis, and reporting\nIdentify, document, and resolve issues that may affect test performance\nMaintain a safe work environment and adhere to all laboratory safety protocols\nOther related tasks as assigned\nMinimum Qualifications:\nAssociate’s degree in Histology or a High School diploma or equivalent with 1 or more years of histology experience \nPreferred Qualifications:\nASCP Histology certification\n1 year or more of experience with routine histology procedures and equipment\n1 year or more of experience with immunohistochemistry (IHC)\nAdditional Job Standards\nCommitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement\nAbility to embed and section both small and large specimens\nStrong attention to detail and ability to accurately read and verify labels\nAbility to work independently and within a team environment\nExperience working in a high-volume laboratory setting\nFamiliarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols\nStrong organizational and multitasking skills\nExcellent attention to detail and accuracy\nEffective written and verbal communication skills\nAble to pass a standardized color blindness test\nBenefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
