Together, we’re improving health and improving lives.\nImage Analysis Scientist - Digital Pathology & Histology\nLabcorp is seeking an Image Analysis Scientist - Digital Pathology & Histology to join our team in Shanghai, China.\nThis position will be responsible for developing, validating, and implementing digital image analysis algorithms to support biomarker assessment in clinical trial and advanced pathology services. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding AI-enabled pathology capabilities and multiplex brightfield and immunofluorescence image analysis solutions.\n\nJob Responsibilities:\n\nDigital Image Analysis Development\nDevelop, optimize, validate, and maintain image analysis algorithms for tissue-based assays, including immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF), multiplex immunofluorescence (mIF), and histology applications.\nCollaborate with pathologists, laboratory scientists, and project teams to define image analysis requirements and ensure scientific accuracy.\nTranslate scientific and clinical questions into measurable image analysis endpoints.\nEvaluate algorithm performance and conduct verification and validation studies to ensure robustness, reproducibility, and regulatory compliance.\nDesign and execute algorithm development strategies to support clinical trials, translational research, and/or future companion diagnostic studies.\n\nAI and Computational Pathology\nSupport the development and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning-based image analysis solutions.\nInvestigate and evaluate emerging digital pathology technologies and computational pathology approaches.\nContribute to the expansion of digital pathology and multiplex imaging capabilities within the organization.\n\nValidation and Quality Compliance\nPrepare validation protocols, reports, and supporting documentation for image analysis algorithms and software platforms.\nEnsure activities are performed in compliance with applicable SOPs, quality standards, client requirements, and regulatory expectations.\nSupport internal audits, client audits, and regulatory inspections as required.\n\nTechnical Support and Troubleshooting\nServe as a subject matter expert for image analysis platforms and digital pathology workflows.\nInvestigate and resolve image analysis and software-related issues.\nWork closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot and optimize system performance.\n\nTraining and Collaboration\nDevelop training materials and provide training to laboratory personnel and project teams on image analysis systems and workflows.\nCollaborate across global sites to harmonize image analysis methodologies and best practices.\nProvide scientific consultation and technical expertise for client-facing projects.\n\nProcess Improvement\nIdentify opportunities to improve image analysis workflows, automation, efficiency, and data quality.\nLead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to digital pathology and image analytics.\nStay current with industry trends, scientific literature, and emerging technologies in image analysis and digital pathology.\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Image Analysis, Biomedical Science, Bioinformatics, Computational biology, Medical Imaging, Digital Pathology, Data Science, or a related scientific discipline.\n3 years or more experience in digital image analysis, computational pathology, medical imaging, or a related field.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience developing and validating image analysis algorithms for pathology or histology applications.\nFamiliarity with digital pathology platforms and image analysis software (e.g., HALO, Visiopharm, QuPath, ImageJ/Fiji , or equivalent).\nExperience supporting biomarker analysis, companion diagnostics, or clinical trial projects is highly preferred.\nKnowledge of multiplex immunofluorescence image analysis workflows is desirable.\nExperience with data visualization and statistical analysis.\nExperience with AI or machine learning applications in pathology is advantageous.\nBasic programming ability in Python or R.\nStrong written and verbal English communication skills.\nAdditional Job Standards:\nHigh level of attention to detail with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to manage multiple projects and prioritize activities to meet timelines.\nProficient with computer systems, data analysis tools, and digital image management platforms.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.\nDemonstrated ability to communicate scientific concepts effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.\nFlexibility to work across global teams and accommodate business needs when required.\nLabcorp is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer:\nLabcorp strives for inclusion and belonging in the workforce and does not tolerate harassment or discrimination of any kind.
