Together, we’re improving health and improving lives.\nLabcorp is seeking a US based remote Sr. Bioinformatics Scientist to join our team!\nJob Responsibilities:\nThe Sr. Bioinformatics Scientist is a seasoned, experienced professional with a wide range of experience who uses concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex issues in a creative and effective way. Exercises judgment in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.\nLead complex technical projects requiring evaluation of identifiable factors\nDrive innovation in methods and tools through networking with key contacts\nContribute to strategic planning by translating business needs into technical requirements\nBuild cross-functional relationships to deliver tactical business targets\nFrequently advise others on complex matters related to bioinformatics and engineering\nDesign and implement advanced bioinformatics solutions with substantial understanding of genomics and genetics\nLead collaboration with molecular biology teams on assay development, including experimental design and analysis\nDrive regulatory compliance through analysis and technical writing for verification, validation, and documentation\nDevelop and optimize complex analysis pipelines based on deep knowledge of bioinformatics algorithms\nGuide result interpretation and reporting standards, considering medical and commercial requirements\nEstablish quality control metrics and procedures to ensure data integrity\nDrive improvements in accuracy, COGS, and turnaround time (TAT)\nLead verification and validation efforts following compliance processes\nInterface with clinical and commercial stakeholders as consumers of bioinformatic data\nEvaluate genomic data to deliver a confident result for complex variants, and understand system limitations when a confident result is not possible\nArchitect and implement complex software systems with deep understanding of languages, tools, and libraries\nDesign systems and APIs that are maintainable, debuggable, and observable\nEstablish development standards by providing quality feedback on designs\nDrive system reliability and performance improvements through\nappropriate metrics\nLead technical design reviews for right-sized components\nImplement robust testing frameworks by working with team leads to set goals\nGuide technical architecture decisions for adjacent software systems\nEstablish monitoring systems that support debuggability and observability\nDrive adoption of engineering best practices within and across teams\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree with 10 or more years of experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, computational biology or engineering, OR Master’s degree with 6 years of experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, computational biology or engineering, OR PhD with 4 or more years of experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, computational biology, or engineering.\nPreferred Qualifications:\n2 or more years of experience leading technical projects\n2 or more years of experience in system architecture and design using BWA, GATK, Deep variance, Dragen, Nextflow, Python, SKLearn, SciPy, PyTORCH, CI/CID, or GitHub Actions\nAdditional Job Standards:\nUnderstanding of regulatory requirements in bioinformatics including regulatory compliance and documentation requirements\nTrack record of identifying principled, robust, high-quality solutions to open-ended problems\nUnderstanding of bioinformatics algorithms and underlying statistical and probabilistic techniques\nUnderstanding of molecular biology underlying one or more products\nStrong background in selecting appropriate datasets void of assumptions and biases\nProject leadership abilities for complex issues requiring evaluation of variable factors\nExcellence in determining methods and processes on new assignments\nStrategic thinking in selecting methods, evaluating, and adapting complex techniques\nStakeholder management expertise across scientific and engineering boundaries\nAdvanced communication skills for persuading diverse stakeholders while delivering wider firm business messages\nAt Labcorp, you can expect the following:\nInnovative Environment: Join a leading healthcare organization committed to driving innovation through internal development to help improve health and improve lives. The position is also eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan.
