The Environmental and Permitting Manager will work directly for a utility client on gas and electric distribution, transmission, and substation utility projects and will be required to manage all permitting and environmental tasks on utility projects.\nAt a minimum, 3-5 years of permitting experience is required (utility, renewable, urban planning, municipal, environmental, etc.). Preference to candidates who already have experience with municipal approvals (environmental or engineering). The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated worker with a willingness to work both independently and on a team. The position will require someone who is willing to manage a variety of different tasks and projects simultaneously.\nThis position will be in-office, in a utility client’s office in either Rochester or Binghamton. There will likely be opportunities to work at least one day a week from home, but that will be discussed during the interview.\nDuties:\nWork with multidisciplinary utility project teams as the Environmental and Permitting Lead on all environmental and permitting aspects of the project (e.g. wetland/stream impacts, stormwater, threatened and endangered species, historical/cultural impacts, spoils, rights-of-way, railroads, municipal (site plan, planning, zoning), Article VII/VIII, Part 102, Article 10/94c, etc.).\nWork as part of the Environmental Permitting and Compliance team within the utility.\nWork with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies and develop permit applications.\nAttend municipal Board meetings (County, Town, Planning, Zoning, etc.) as required, presenting on behalf of the client.\nManage a variety of different complex projects simultaneously.\nPerform environmental and permitting desktop project reviews.\nDirect other consulting firms on environmental and permitting work; occasionally develop RFPs.\nIndependently manage tasks and meet project deliverable schedules while simultaneously working as part of a team.\nRequirements\nBS in Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, or related field of study; MS preferred.\nMinimum 3 to 5 years of permitting experience is required (utility, renewable, urban planning, municipal, environmental, etc.).\nHighly motivated, with excellent client service skills and attitude.\nExceptional verbal and technical written communication skills are essential.\nOrganized multi-tasker with ability to meet deadlines.\nAbility to review, edit, and provide QA/QC for permitting and environmental deliverables.\nOccasional fieldwork.\nSome reimbursable travel within NY is required.\nSalary commensurate with experience.\nFast-paced environmental consulting/utility environment.\nSalary Range: $62,000.00 - $74,000.00 per year\nThe specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.\nBenefits\nBody, mind, and wallet-LaBella’s benefits support a holistic approach to your health and wellness, creating the foundation for physical, mental, and financial well-being.
