Elbit Systems is an Israeli defence electronics company founded in 1966 and headquartered in Haifa, and the largest privately owned defence contractor in the country. It supplies unmanned aircraft including the widely exported Hermes family, artillery systems such as the PULS rocket launcher, active protection for armoured vehicles, and the helmet-mounted display systems worn by pilots of the F-35 and other combat aircraft. The company has grown substantially through acquisition, including IMI Systems and the night vision business of Harris, and it derives most of its revenue from exports across Europe, Asia and the Americas rather than from its home market.
