Working under the guidance of senior engineers and technical leads, this role contributes to software development activities while building technical expertise and knowledge of medical device software development processes. The Software Engineer I participates in the software development lifecycle, applying established engineering practices to develop high-quality software solutions that align with Laborie's Quality Management System and regulatory requirements.\nAbout the Role:\nAssist in the design, implementation, and verification of software components and systems under the guidance of senior engineers. \nParticipate in software development activities including coding, debugging, testing, and documentation. \nCollaborate with software, systems, and test engineers to understand requirements and contribute to software solutions. \nCreate and maintain software development documentation in compliance with Laborie's Quality Management System (QMS) and applicable standards. \nDevelop and execute unit tests \nParticipate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve code quality and technical skills. \nTroubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues with guidance from senior team members. \nFollow established software engineering processes, coding standards, and best practices. \nProvide regular progress updates to project leads and managers. \nSupport maintenance and enhancement activities for existing software products. \nContinuously develop technical skills and learn new tools, technologies, and development practices. \nMaintain high standards of software quality and compliance with departmental quality plans and procedures. \nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, and 0-2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. \nExperience with at least one modern object-oriented programming language (e.g., C#, C++, or Java) through coursework, internships, co-op programs, or professional experience. \nFamiliarity with software development tools such as Visual Studio and version control systems (Git, TFS, or similar). \nBasic understanding of software development, lifecycle methodologies and software engineering principles. \nExposure to databases (e.g., SQL Server), .NET frameworks, and object-oriented design concepts is preferred. \nFamiliarity with software testing principles and automated testing frameworks is a plus. \nKnowledge of medical device software standards (e.g., IEC 62304) is preferred but not required. \nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills. \nAttention to detail and ability to work effectively on assigned tasks. \nGood verbal and written communication skills. \nAbility to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment. \nDemonstrated willingness to learn and grow technical capabilities. \nAbility to maintain regular and predictable attendance. \nWhy Laborie:\nOur Mission every day is to operate as a world-class specialist medical company making and advancing technologies that preserve and restore human dignity.
