We're hiring an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a growing precision manufacturing operation in the Rochester, NY area.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who understands CNC machining, enjoys solving complex manufacturing problems, and wants to make a direct impact on how precision components are produced.

You'll work closely with machinists, programmers, quality, and production leadership to develop and improve manufacturing processes, troubleshoot machining challenges, and drive improvements in efficiency, quality, and overall production performance.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in CNC machining and precision manufacturing, understands what it takes to produce complex, tight-tolerance components, and is comfortable spending time on the shop floor working directly with production teams.

Compensation

  • $100 - $130k / yr

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize CNC machining processes for precision components, focusing on quality, efficiency, repeatability, and cost.
  • Work directly with CNC machinists, programmers, and production teams to troubleshoot machining challenges and improve manufacturing performance.
  • Develop manufacturing processes, work instructions, tooling requirements, and production documentation for new and existing parts.
  • Evaluate machining methods, cutting tools, fixtures, workholding, and process parameters to improve cycle times and part quality.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI), including process development, production readiness, and first article manufacturing.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and tight-tolerance machining requirements to ensure manufacturing processes meet specifications.
  • Investigate manufacturing defects, scrap, rework, and process variation to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with quality engineering to resolve dimensional issues, improve process capability, and support first article inspections.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce setup times, improve machine utilization, and increase overall manufacturing efficiency.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering experience in a CNC machining or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, including milling, turning, tooling, workholding, and machining fundamentals.
  • Experience developing, improving, or troubleshooting manufacturing processes for precision-machined components.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and dimensional tolerances.
  • Familiarity with CNC equipment, machining parameters, cutting tools, and fixture design.
  • Experience supporting production teams and resolving technical issues directly on the manufacturing floor.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience identifying root causes and implementing process improvements.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with machinists, programmers, quality personnel, and engineering teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience will be considered.
