Headquartered in San Mateo, California, Laborup is an AI-powered talent acquisition platform dedicated to solving workforce shortages across the manufacturing and industrial sectors. The company integrates proprietary software with expert recruiters to source, screen, and pre-vet skilled workers such as machinists, welders, and maintenance technicians. By drastically reducing hiring costs and time-to-fill, it enables industrial enterprises to maintain seamless production and strengthen supply chain resilience.

We are seeking a Quality Inspector to join a growing Quality team in a metal manufacturing environment. This is a second-shift, early-career opportunity for someone who already has a foundation in quality inspection and wants to continue developing their skills and career.

The Quality Inspector will perform inspections throughout the manufacturing process to verify that stamped metal parts, welded assemblies, and finished products meet engineering drawings, specifications, control plans, and customer requirements. The role will use precision measuring equipment, document inspection results, identify and control nonconforming product, and work closely with Production and Quality personnel to resolve issues.

The ideal candidate has 1-3 years of quality inspection/QC experience, preferably within metal manufacturing. Automotive or progressive die stamping experience is a strong plus but is not required. The company is willing to provide additional training and development for someone who brings the right Quality foundation, attitude, and willingness to learn.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3:30 PM-11:30 PM, with occasional overtime

Pay: $19-$22/hr depending on experience; second-shift differential is included.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving, first-piece, setup, in-process, final, rework, containment, and other assigned inspections.
  • Inspect stamped metal parts, welded assemblies, components, and finished products for dimensional and visual conformance.
  • Read and follow engineering drawings, specifications, control plans, work instructions, inspection criteria, and approved samples.
  • Use precision measuring and inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, pin/plug/thread gauges, fixtures, optical comparators, and other applicable tools.
  • Identify defects and nonconforming or suspect product and follow established procedures for rejection, containment, segregation, and escalation.
  • Accurately document inspection results and maintain required product and lot traceability.
  • Communicate quality issues clearly with operators, supervisors, Production, and Quality personnel.
  • Maintain independent Quality decisions and follow established requirements when production or delivery pressures arise.
  • Support quality-system activities, corrective actions, audits, PPAP/containment activities, and other assigned Quality functions.
  • Maintain safe work practices and proper handling of inspection equipment and gauges.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of quality inspection, quality control, quality assurance, or related manufacturing quality experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a metal manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Automotive, progressive die stamping, metal stamping, welding, machining, or fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of basic quality terminology, inspection processes, nonconforming product, and quality procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and basic GD&T.
  • Experience using common precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and inspection fixtures.
  • Basic understanding of control plans, inspection requirements, traceability, and reaction/nonconformance procedures preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic shop math and accurately document inspection results.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with both Quality and Production teams.
  • Able to remain objective and follow Quality requirements when addressing defects or nonconforming material.
  • Coachable, dependable, and interested in continued training and professional development.
  • Must be available to work second shift, Monday-Friday, 3:30 PM-11:30 PM, plus occasional overtime.
