Founded in 2023, we’re based in Bergen (Norway), Eindhoven (The Netherlands) and Barcelona (Spain), and backed by some of the world’s most ambitious investors.\nWhat you’ll do:\nWork on general theoretical physics problems related to the production and manipulation of cold intense beams of neutral atoms, both at the quantum and classical levels.\n\nDevelop theoretical and numerical modeling of atom-light interactions for atomic beam manipulation.\n\nDesign advanced laser cooling schemes and supervise their practical implementation.\n\nDevelop numerical approaches to validate the theoretical models, with an emphasis on realistic engineering constraints.\n\nCollaborate across teams on theoretical, simulation, and experimental projects, producing simulation tools to be used by other teams.\n\nProduce and maintain high quality code and documentation, as well as review documentation and code written by colleagues.\n\nMentor junior members of the team.\n\nInvestigate novel physical solutions and understanding, at the forefront of AMO and cold-atoms physics.\n\nWho you are:\nAn expert AMO physicist with solid knowledge on atom light interactions, expertise in manipulation techniques of atomic beams and a deep understanding of atom optics and atomic physics. Someone that thrives in a collaborative fast paced environment working on complex, interconnected, and evolving problems. With your expertise in the art of research you are highly capable of working on problems that may be ill defined or involve subjects that are outside your area of specialization.\nRequirements\nPhD or equivalent level of experience in AMO Physics or closely related discipline.\n\nSignificant theoretical experience with manipulation of atoms using light.\n\nDeep understanding of the core principles of atomic physics and atom-light interaction.\n\nSignificant record of publications or strong thesis.\n\nCapable of performing back-of-the-envelope calculations to assess physics/engineering problems and proposals.\n\nScientific curiosity and commitment to staying current with the latest literature and developments in the field.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with atom beams or supersonic sources.\n\nHands on laboratory experience.\n\nDirect experience in the fields of atom optics, laser cooling, optical excitation, etc.\n\nOur team here at Lace:\n…consists of amazing people who’ve joined us from all over the world, driven by intense curiosity, the urge for exploration, and a desire to push the limits of physics.
