Lam Research is an American semiconductor equipment company founded in 1980 that specialises in the deposition and etch steps used to build transistors and memory cells. Its tools are central to three-dimensional NAND manufacturing, where hundreds of layers must be etched through in high aspect ratio channels, and to the atomic layer deposition and selective etch processes required at advanced logic and DRAM nodes. Headquartered in Fremont, California and listed on Nasdaq, it also runs a large installed base business supplying spares, upgrades and service, which smooths the sharp cycles in equipment purchasing.

The group you’ll be a part of

The Global Operations Group brings information systems, facilities, supply chain, logistics, and high-volume manufacturing together to drive the engine of our global business operations. We help Lam deliver industry-leading solutions with speed and efficiency, while actively supporting the resilient and profitable growth of Lam's business.

The impact you’ll make

Configuration Management (CM) plays a crucial role in ensuring customer orders are delivered with high quality to the customer requested specification. To do this, we have a global team that is responsible for creating Sales Order BOM configurations from quotes and non-standard requests (NSR’s), with a goal of zero defects to the customer.

We are looking for a driven, dynamic individual to join our team. As a Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will have the opportunity to support our global CM team, by focusing on improving configuration quality for some of the more challenging aspects of configurations, typically new product option architecture (POA), NSRs and changes. The TPM role will engage globally and cross-functionally with stakeholders across product groups, sales operations and global operations to develop processes and error proofing techniques that support our global quality metrics, and customer goals.

What you’ll do

  • Connect Product Group (PG) roadmap and initiatives to future FIDs.
  • Own process transparency for NSR and POA - establish clear inputs, quality standards, and visibility that enables Configuration Flexibility.
  • Leverage operational data to align PG priorities - based on impact to supply chain & customer.
  • Champion continuous improvement through root cause analysis - drive corrective and preventive actions that systematically drive planned changes.
  • With a quality mindset, understand the configuration challenges, the root causes, and drive changes in process and technology
  • Champion process and technology improvements across the stakeholder groups to improve configuration quality and accuracy.
  • Drive initiatives with leaders in Sales Operations, Product Management and Global Operations to achieve continuous improvement upstream and downstream of the Order Fulfillment processes to improve competitiveness in meeting customer needs and product lead times.

Who we’re looking for

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 8+ years’ experience;
  • Experience leading teams of multiple stakeholders to achieve program goals.
  • Project/Program planning and monitoring using tools such as MPP, dashboards and data analytics.
  • Global, multi-site coordination experience.
  • Strong strategy, analytical, presentation and communication skills to drive initiatives, keep programs on track, and keep internal leadership team informed of progress and help needed in a proactive manner.
  • Knowledge of hardware product development and release procedures and BOM management - software experience alone will not be sufficient.

Preferred qualifications

  • Knowledge of semi-conductor industry, or similar high tech manufacturing industry
  • Experience in problem-solving techniques and tools, including 8D, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 5-Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa diagrams, and containment/corrective action methodologies.
  • Experience in leading indirect teams with diverse backgrounds, experiences and personality types
  • Able to identify opportunities for value-creating/positive change, can craft a vision and architect a change strategy in collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to set and manage accountabilities and expectations at all levels, acts quickly to resolve conflicts.
