Lam Research is an American semiconductor equipment company founded in 1980 that specialises in the deposition and etch steps used to build transistors and memory cells. Its tools are central to three-dimensional NAND manufacturing, where hundreds of layers must be etched through in high aspect ratio channels, and to the atomic layer deposition and selective etch processes required at advanced logic and DRAM nodes. Headquartered in Fremont, California and listed on Nasdaq, it also runs a large installed base business supplying spares, upgrades and service, which smooths the sharp cycles in equipment purchasing.

The group you’ll be a part of

The Global Operations Group brings information systems, facilities, supply chain, logistics, and high-volume manufacturing together to drive the engine of our global business operations. We help Lam deliver industry-leading solutions with speed and efficiency, while actively supporting the resilient and profitable growth of Lam's business.

The impact you’ll make

As a Test Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and sustaining manufacturing test methods, process sequences, and operational procedures used in the production of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies. This role provides the opportunity to collaborate across multiple functions to resolve technical, quality, and production challenges while contributing to continuous improvement in product design, manufacturability, and operational excellence.

What you’ll do

  • Develop, modify, and maintain manufacturing test scripts, including Python code used within the Test Automation Application to support upstream and final product testing.
  • Monitor escalation trends related to the Test Automation Application and ensure issues are maintained at a healthy and manageable level.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the Gemini Team and Global Engineering Team to support new product development and enhance test code capabilities.
  • Maintain test computer compatibility with the Lam network by applying required software patches and upgrades released by GIS.
  • Monitor, implement, and sustain global cybersecurity standards across LMM CTC, Chase computers, and utility computers.
  • Serve as the LMM Test Automation Application single point of contact to escalate issues, identify improvement opportunities, and communicate new application releases, alerts, hot fixes, and package promotions to LMM Test Engineers and shop floor teams as needed.
  • Support Test Engineers in implementing final test improvements that require test automation intervention.
  • Promote best-in-class testing practices by supporting and advancing automation within test operations.
  • Drive efficiency improvements in testing processes, including consolidation toward a unified testing platform.
  • Leverage and enable emerging technologies, including model-based design and artificial intelligence, to enhance test capability and operational effectiveness.
  • Review, update, and create test cases to improve test coverage and effectiveness, including for products with non-standard configurations.
  • Perform data analysis and recommend test improvement methods to reduce test cycle time.
  • Improve product quality by analyzing test first-pass yield, trend data, factory non-conformances, and field escalations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Apply experience with vacuum, pressure, and gas delivery systems as an added advantage in supporting product test and manufacturing processes.

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • More than two years of relevant engineering, manufacturing, test, or automation experience.
  • Strong programming skills in C#, Python and MSSQL.
  • Effective technical writing skills, with the ability to clearly communicate and document designs, processes, and procedures.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to discuss technical issues effectively with suppliers, Supplier Engineering, Pilot Manufacturing, and Design Engineering teams.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks independently with minimal technical guidance
