One person, one GPU.\nIf you'd like to build the world's best AI cloud, join us.\n*Note: This position requires presence in our San Francisco office location 4 days per week; Lambda’s designated work from home day is currently Tuesday.\nWhat You’ll Do\nOwn electrical design standards and reference architectures for medium-voltage systems supporting large-scale AI data centers.\n\nLead design from utility interconnection through campus distribution and medium-voltage-to-low-voltage transformation.\n\nDevelop and review single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, protection schemes, sequences of operation, and basis-of-design documents.\n\nEvaluate greenfield, retrofit, and partner-provided designs for capacity, reliability, maintainability, cost, and schedule.\n\nPerform or oversee load-flow, short-circuit, protective-device coordination, grounding, arc-flash, and power-quality studies.\n\nDefine requirements for substations, transformers, medium-voltage switchgear, protective relays, generators, and associated control systems.\n\nWork with utilities, engineering partners, equipment manufacturers, construction teams, commissioning agents, and data center operators.\n\nSupport equipment selection, long-lead procurement, factory testing, construction sequencing, commissioning, and integrated systems testing.\n\nInvestigate electrical failures and operational risks, driving corrective actions back into Lambda’s standards and future designs.\n\nTravel to project sites, manufacturers, and partner facilities as needed.\n\nYou\nHave experience designing medium-voltage electrical systems for data centers, mission-critical facilities, utilities, or large industrial campuses.\n\nUnderstand medium-voltage distribution, transformers, switchgear, generators, grounding, protection, and control systems.\n\nCan develop and review single-line diagrams, technical specifications, relay philosophies, and electrical study reports.\n\nHave experience with ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or comparable electrical analysis software.\n\nUnderstand applicable electrical and safety requirements, including NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, NETA, and utility standards.\n\nCan balance reliability, capacity, maintainability, constructability, cost, and delivery schedule.\n\nCommunicate clearly across engineering, construction, operations, vendors, and executive stakeholders.\n\nHold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent practical experience.\n\nNice to Have\nExperience designing hyperscale, colocation, HPC, or AI data center campuses.\n\nExperience with utility interconnection, large campus substations, or behind-the-meter generation.\n\nExperience with protective-relay settings, generator paralleling, microgrids, or medium-voltage automation.\n\nExperience supporting factory acceptance testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing, or failure investigations.\n\nExperience with PSCAD, other EMT simulation tools or System Stability Analysis\n\nProfessional Engineer licensure or progress toward licensure.\n\nSalary Range Information\nThe annual salary range for this position has been set based on market data and other factors.
