As part of the Fletcher Building Group, we are committed to improving the world around us through smart thinking, simply delivered.\nThe role\nWe are looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead our production operations at our Crestmead site.\nCrestmead is a busy, high-performing site experiencing strong growth, with further expansion ahead. This is an opportunity for a practical and visible leader who is comfortable working on the floor, supporting frontline leaders and getting the best from a blue-collar workforce.\nReporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead production across a multi-shift operation, with responsibility for safety, quality, people, cost and delivery. Your focus will be on ensuring production targets are achieved safely and efficiently while building an engaged, capable and accountable team.\n\nKey responsibilities\nLead by example and maintain a strong focus on Zero Harm and safe operations.\nManage daily production to achieve safety, quality, cost and delivery targets.\nProvide visible, hands-on leadership across the factory floor.\nCoach and develop Shift Supervisors and production team members.\nPlan labour and allocate resources to meet changing production requirements.\nMonitor production performance and respond quickly to operational issues.\nManage labour costs and production overheads within budget.\nBuild workforce capability through training, cross-skilling and performance conversations.\nDrive practical continuous improvement across safety, quality and productivity.\nSupport employee and industrial relations matters, including working constructively with employee and union representatives.\nAbout youYou will be an experienced manufacturing or operations leader who knows how to lead people in a busy, hands-on environment.\nYou will bring:\nStrong leadership experience within manufacturing, production or a similar blue-collar environment.\nExperience leading teams across shift-based operations.\nA visible, practical and approachable leadership style.\nA strong safety mindset and the confidence to address issues early.\nThe ability to build accountability while maintaining positive team relationships.\nExperience coaching frontline leaders and developing team capability.\nA good understanding of production targets, labour planning and operating costs.\nThe resilience to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operation.\nExperience working with enterprise agreements, unions or employee representatives.\nExposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.\nA qualification in engineering, manufacturing, supply chain or a related discipline would be beneficial, but relevant hands-on leadership experience will be equally valued.\nWhy join us?\nThis is an opportunity to take ownership of production at an important and growing Stramit site.
