Trusted by more than 2,000 utilities worldwide, our intelligent solutions connect devices, data, and decisions across the grid, helping customers modernize infrastructure, optimize operations, and deliver energy that is more reliable, resilient, accessible, safe, and sustainable.\nBehind every solution is a team of approximately 3,300 employees across more than 40 countries who are passionate about solving complex challenges, driving innovation, and making a meaningful impact for our utility customers and the communities they serve.\nJoin Team Green and help shape the future of intelligent energy.\nJob Summary\nThe Engineer I, Firmware Development develops and maintains firmware for the Wireless Communication and Networking Devices.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesigns, develops, documents, and tests Wireless Communication and Network Devices Firmware.\nContributes to the development of product design specifications including functional requirements, use cases, detailed design, interface, and test plans.\nContributes to design verification of testing processes and procedures.\nAssists with planning and support of field installations of Alpha and Beta phase.\nContributes to product and system-level test efforts.\nDesigns industry standard interfaces where required.\nCompany Values\nSupports and adheres to Company’s core values.\nPerforms other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.\nSupports and adheres to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.\nRepresents Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both internal and external customers.\nEducation: BS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or electrical engineering required.\nExperience:\n1-3 years experience\nExperienced in Test Automation development.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nProgramming C, C++, C# a plus\nFirmware development for an embedded system\nDevelopment using Real-time operating systems\nUse of development and debugging tools in an embedded system\nFamiliarity with Wireless communication and Networking protocols\nFamiliarity with RF networks, security encryption and packet-based networks are desirable\nFamiliarity with protocol stacks such as 802.15.4e, 6LowPAN, SNMPv2/3, DHCPv6, FTP is desirable\nPersonal Computer knowledge familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Keyboard/typing skills\nAbility to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.\nWorking Conditions: Typical indoor office environment with the majority of time spent sitting and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Occasional use of other devices such as: phone, copier/printer/fax, etc.\nDriving Status: May require occasional driving\nPhysical Requirements: Typical office setting. Required to stand; walk; crouch; or handle objects. Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Ability to sit and view computer screen for long periods of time. The ability to see, hear, & speak in English.
