Trusted by more than 2,000 utilities worldwide, our intelligent solutions connect devices, data, and decisions across the grid, helping customers modernize infrastructure, optimize operations, and deliver energy that is more reliable, resilient, accessible, safe, and sustainable.\nBehind every solution is a team of approximately 3,300 employees across more than 40 countries who are passionate about solving complex challenges, driving innovation, and making a meaningful impact for our utility customers and the communities they serve.\nJoin Team Green and help shape the future of intelligent energy.\nJob Summary\nAs a Technical Writer within our high production environment, you will be responsible for developing new and maintaining existing content and documentation for Landis+Gyr products, including but not limited to user guides, installation manuals, quick start guides, and release notes for written and online content.\nKey Responsibilities and Accountabilities:\nWork closely with product managers and SMEs to produce and maintain complete and accurate technical documentation using Adobe Structured FrameMaker, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite for PC platforms (both independently or within a team environment)\nCreate high-quality, detailed content that is easy for customers to understand using Adobe Technical Communication Suite products\nCreate day-to-day alert and bulletin documentation as necessary for timely release and publication to address emergent and non-urgent issues\nCreate illustrations and graphics (vector- and raster-based) for technical documentation using Adobe Creative Suite products\nDesign and develop templates for technical documents using Adobe Structured FrameMaker\nEdit manuals and other technical documentation created by other technical writers\nObtain scope, content, and schedule of desired end-product documentation and develop plans and milestones to achieve successful releases\nCritically examine documentation at all stages in the writing process from a customer standpoint and bring to light any bugs, inconsistencies, and problems that need addressing before final system release\nMaintain flexibility and adaptability to work on other writers’ projects to help meet deadlines\nCompany Values:\nSupports and adheres to Company’s core values.\nPerforms other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.\nSupports and adheres to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.\nRepresents Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both internal and external customers.\nEducation and Experience:\nBachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Electrical or Electronic Engineering/Technology or related field\n3-5 years' experience writing technical publications, software and hardware applications preferred\nExperience with both Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Technical Communication Suite\nExperience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, SharePoint, and other industry standard applications\nExperience working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to obtain technical content needed to complete documentation\nExperience with DITA and/or XML authoring tools\nUnderstanding of utility operations preferred\nPreferred Qualifications:\nUnderstand and communicate complex technology in a user-friendly manner\nEffectively communicate both verbally and in writing with across multiple areas of the business\nA collaborative spirit with a proven history of successful experiences managing large projects and working with SMEs\nFollow all applicable processes and guidelines\nPossess strong ability, willingness, aptitude, and desire to learn\nMeet deadlines in a sometimes fast-paced, always detail-oriented environment\nA willingness to and aptitude for engaging with documentation from a customer perspective with the intention to improve usability/accessibility\nWorking Conditions/Physical Requirements:\nWorking Conditions: Typical indoor office environment with the majority of time spent sitting and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Occasional use of other devices such as: phone, copier/printer/fax, etc.\nPhysical Requirements: Typical office setting. Required to stand; walk; crouch; or handle objects. Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Ability to sit and view computer screen for long periods of time. The ability to see, hear, & speak in English. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
