Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or vocational training in facilities management or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related role.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, vendors, and contractors.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in facilities management or a related field or the willingness to obtain.
  • Experience working in an educational environment.
  • Familiarity with green building practices and sustainability initiatives.
  • Experience with Vendor relations/management

Responsibilities - Facility Monitoring and Maintenance

  • Assist in the regular inspection and assessment of school facilities to ensure they are in good condition and meet safety standards.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues and coordinate with the Facilities Manager to prioritize and address them.
  • Help to manage minor repair and maintenance tasks, ensuring timely and effective resolution.

Responsibilities - Coordination with Third-Party Services

  • Work with third-party custodial, grounds, and maintenance services to ensure they meet the district's standards and contractual obligations.
  • Monitor the performance of third-party vendors and provide feedback to the Facilities Manager.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating vendor activities to minimize disruption to school operations.

Responsibilities - Quality Assurance

  • Conduct regular quality checks of custodial, grounds, and maintenance work to ensure compliance with district standards.
  • Document and report any deficiencies or areas for improvement to the Facilities Manager.
  • Assist in developing and implementing quality control procedures and checklists.

Responsibilities - Support for Learning Environments

  • Ensure that classrooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces are maintained to support a positive and effective learning environment.
  • Collaborate with school staff to address specific facility needs or concerns.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining facilities for special events and activities.

Responsibilities - Safety and Compliance

  • Assist in ensuring that all facilities comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Participate in safety drills and emergency response planning.
  • Report any safety hazards or concerns to the Facilities Manager immediately.

Responsibilities - Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, vendor services, and facility inspections.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation related to facility operations.
  • Help manage inventory and ordering of maintenance supplies and equipment.
