Linux Kernel Developer

We are looking for an experienced Linux Kernel Developer with strong expertise in Linux kernel development, device drivers, and embedded systems. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with I2C, I3C, UART, Linux kernel subsystems, and low-level system programming. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, debugging, and optimising Linux kernel components while contributing to open-source development initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Linux kernel drivers and kernel modules.
• Develop, enhance, and debug Linux kernel components related to I2C, I3C, UART, and associated subsystems.
• Analyse and resolve kernel-level issues using Linux kernel debugging tools.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to enable and validate new platforms.
• Optimise kernel performance, reliability, and stability across embedded Linux platforms.
• Develop and integrate device drivers for embedded hardware interfaces and peripherals.
• Perform kernel debugging, root cause analysis, and issue resolution for complex system-level problems.
• Work with Linux kernel source code, patches, and upstream kernel releases.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Use Git for source code management, version control, and collaborative development.
• Create technical documentation for kernel features, driver implementations, and debugging procedures.
• Contribute to Linux open-source projects and engage with the open-source community where applicable.
• Automate development, testing, and validation tasks using Shell scripting and Python.

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience in Linux Kernel Development.
• Expertise in I2C, I3C, UART protocols and Linux kernel subsystems.
• Strong proficiency in C programming.
• Experience with Linux kernel debugging tools and troubleshooting techniques.
• Good understanding of Linux device driver architecture.
• Strong knowledge of computer architecture, storage technologies, and I/O subsystems.
• Experience using Git for version control.
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Python and Shell Scripting.
• Contributions to Linux kernel or other open-source projects.
• Experience working with open-source communities and upstream kernel contributions.
• Familiarity with storage technologies and related communication protocols.
• Exposure to embedded Linux BSP development is an added advantage.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-8 years of experience in Linux kernel development or embedded Linux.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in Linux BSP development.
• Knowledge of bootloaders such as U-Boot.
• Experience with Yocto, Buildroot, or embedded Linux build systems.
• Familiarity with SPI, PCIe, USB, MMC/SD, Ethernet, or other Linux kernel subsystems.
• Experience with CI/CD workflows for embedded software development.
